Cola De Mono
Spinetta Jade Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
no sigas fingiendo, nena no no!...
The lyrics of Spinetta Jade's song "Cola De Mono" speak about the jadedness and disillusionment that comes with modern-day living. The singer expresses his disappointment in the narrow-mindedness of his partner, who is too focused and one-dimensional in her communication. He suggests that her idle chatter is void of any deeper thought or emotional expression. In contrast, he, as the singer, has a deeper yearning for a more eclectic and authentic lifestyle, unapologetic in its expression of wants and desires yet dissuading of the use of empty promises and false aspirations.
The second part of the song speaks about the singer's sense of isolation and confinement. His desire to break free from modern-day life drives him to the brink of desperation, trying to break free of his mundane existence. He remarks on the artificiality of his dreams, which keep falling apart due to lack of sustenance. The singer rails against the tightening grip of modern society, comparing it to a solid marble column. He suggests that this suffocating force must eventually give way, and only through radical change can we find the possibility of a viable way forward. Ultimately the song presents a rather bleak vision of contemporary living, fraught with disillusionment and emptiness, suggesting that we need to break free from this dispiriting regime to find a more promising future.
