When they were officially founded in 1996, Andi Erhardt played the bass, but left the band one year later and Rüdiger Linhof became the new bassist.
Sportfreunde Stiller started on the underground rock scene, with their songs only appearing on indie stations at first and their albums Macht doch, was ihr wolt - ich geh jetzt!(1996) and Thonträger(1998). Their first big single "Wellenreiten '54" (Surfing '54) was released in 1999. Containing this release their first major record "So wie einst Real Madrid" (As once Real Madrid) followed in 2000 and made the "Sporties" well known to Germany's upcoming indie rock scene. The second big relaese "Die gute Seite" (The Good Side) came in 2002 and established Sportfreunde's unique and good mooded style of rock music.
Since having success with their third major album Burli (Bavarian: a small boy), Sportfreunde Stiller became one of Germany's leading rock bands. They topped the charts with their soccer-themed anthem '54 '74 '90 2006, a homage to their country's World Cup wins, though hastily retitled '54 '74 '90 2010 when Germany was defeated in the tournament in 2006.
In August 2007, they released their 5th studio-album "La Bum", which topped the charts after three weeks.

Fast wie von selbst
Sind wir hier her gekommen
Und jetzt stehen wir
Wie benommen hier
Fast wie von selbst
Fast wie von selbst
Und jetzt stehen wir
Wie benommen hier
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
Fast wie von selbst
Fast wie von selbst
Hat es seinen Lauf genommen
Und jetzt stehen wir
Wie verloren hier
Fast wie von selbst
Fast wie von selbst
Sind wir uns näher gekommen
Und jetzt stehen wir
Gemeinsam hier
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
Fast wie von allein
Fast wie von
Fast wie von allein
Jedoch niemals ohne dich
Möchte ich sein
The song "Fast Wie Von Selbst" by Sportfreunde Stiller is a German pop-rock song that talks about the feeling of being in love and how it brings people together. The title of the song translates to "almost like automatically" or "almost like by itself," which sets the stage for the idea that love can bring people together without much effort. The lyrics reflect this sentiment, as the singer describes how they arrived at the current moment, seemingly as if it happened on its own, "fast wie von selbst." The repetition of this phrase throughout the song emphasizes the idea that this love and connection is natural and effortless.
The lyrics also touch on the importance of being together, as the singer repeatedly states that they never want to be without the person they love. This sentiment is expressed in the lines, "Jedoch niemals ohne dich möchte ich sein" which translates to "however, I never want to be without you." This idea of being together is mirrored musically with the use of harmony and the repetition of the chorus, bringing both the singer and the listener into a collective experience of love and togetherness.
Overall, "Fast Wie Von Selbst" is a heartfelt tribute to the natural beauty of love and the importance of human connection. The song's simple yet powerful lyrics and catchy melody make it a fan favorite, enjoyed by audiences in Germany and beyond.
