It seems I’ve (coincidentally) ended up on a bit of a Capcom spree over the last few days, but this one is much different than the others. I wouldn’t call it my favorite fantasy RPG of all time, but Dragon’s Dogma was certainly unique and had a lot of really cool and awe-inspiring boss battles. Chief among those is the penultimate fight against Grigori, the titular dragon. It’s very long and has an incredibly number of different stages, including fighting him amidst a crumbling castle and taking the battle to the skies on his back. The game’s unique system of climbing atop the backs of your monstrous foes comes into full force during this fight as you scale his scales. This battle theme is suitably climactic and epic, with an electric guitar giving things an extra kick.

+Klagmar I just bought this from steam summer sale but havent got the time to sit down on a computer yet. I intend to spend next weekend on this thing. The expectations are high after all the praise it has got.

Also, it's cool to see this game recently get a PC release! I hope it exposes more people to it.

One of Dragon's Dogma's biggest shortcomings was it's huge expansive open world. It looked nice, and had favorable points of interest, but the act of travelling between these places made most of the game a chore to play, and it was especially sad to see that enemy placement was set in stone instead of randomized, which again hampered the open world experience.
The release of Dark Arisen definitely made up for that spectacularly, making the open world a bit of a less of a chore to explore with extra waypoints and cheaper fast-travelling, but it also featured one huge dungeon-crawling area which was masterly designed, and was proof that the gameplay style you could get from this game was suited for a fun and challenging experience.
