To me, this variant of “The Long Road” embodies the path Edelgard choose and all of the emotions associated with it.

Her path is covered in blood and death. How fitting is it that this song plays at the height of the war? As the casualties are at their highest. Everyone is worn down, tired, yet still trekking on this long road.

The soft chimes in the background are reminiscent of the school bell the students heard everyday. A gloomy version of Garreg Mach’s theme. But now that familiar melody is quiet, tiny, and almost nearly forgotten. It’s just like the peaceful memories of staying at Garreg Mach—as well as the path Edelgard longed to choose—only faintly present. Yes, not even the all-powerful Emperor of Adrestia can return to those sublime days, and it’s all of her own doing.

The percussion nearly overwhelms everything else, because it’s the sound of her army and will marching.
Marching to the end of their path, wherever it may take them.
And where does it take her in the end of most routes? All the way from the girl who was told to cut her path with a dagger, to the most fearsome woman in Fodland—

The end of the long road is death. The death of her body, spirit, and unfulfilled dreams.

That’s what this song is to me.

This will always be the “let’s fight a buch of giant armored titans and kill Cornelia” theme for me
I didn’t know how much I’d like this song at first when I heard the first part in-game, but I listened to it and I really like it! Definitely lives up to the name of the song

Damon Richardson

@Morgan Petty Alright! Someone with a like mind! I always thought this one was such an amazing song cause it was the "freeing my home" song. And the Titanus were awesome yet challenging enemies too.

Ike IS SO COOL

Bro I fucking LOVED that map. Best one in the Blue Lions route for me. The atmosphere tied with this song, omgggg. Those Titanus' where DANCING to this theme, and no one can tell me otherwise!

Betooie

If only that map weren't so easily cheesed with warp

Riah

@Betooie At some point in my run I just realized Ashe could fly in and just kill the boss so I did just that.

Stop Annoying me

@Betooie there is solution for that: just don't warp;)

I judge each character by their own routes. In other routes you don’t get a full picture of their motives/character.

Force

Hands down the best song in the game.
