After forming in 2001, the band's incessant dedication to both the stage, the road, and the writing process earned them the attention of Orlando-based One Eleven Records. Signing with the label in 2002, the band immediately got to work on its freshman release "Start Over On Monday".
After condensing the introspective, yet pop sensible nature of their music into thirteen watertight tracks, "Always Leave the Ground" was born. After more than a year and a half on tour in support of their debut, and heading overseas to Japan, This Day & Age then released their highly anticipated follow up record, "The Bell & the Hammer."
As of October 24th, 2006, This Day & Age is on an indefinite leave of absence due to Jeff leaving the band. The remaining members are now a band called The Reign of Kindo.

I Remember Me
This Day & Age Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let's forget
All the times we spent together
Let's run with our eyes closed
Because I suppose
That some dreams are meant to be broken
Let's runaway
We don't believe in anything
We believe in yesterday
And she remembers
All the pain and heartache
Let's make this a night to remember
Let's close down
All the roads we drove on together
Let's hop the next train
Cause we can't regain
What's been lost in these lives
In this small town
Lock the door
Cause I don't need to be
In this place anymore
The lyrics to This Day & Age's song "I Remember Me" describe the pain of letting go of a past love and the desire to move on with life. The verses begin by expressing a desire to make the night unforgettable, but also to forget the times spent together. The singer seems to be torn between wanting to hold on to the past and wanting to let go completely. They suggest that dreams and relationships are sometimes meant to be broken.
The chorus expands on these ideas, suggesting that the couple has lost faith in the future and only believes in the past. The line "she remembers/All the pain and heartache" suggests that the relationship was tumultuous and difficult to sustain. Despite this, the singer still wants to make the night memorable, perhaps as a final goodbye to what they had.
The final verse expresses a desire to leave the small town and start over. The line "we can't regain/What's been lost in these lives" suggests that the relationship has caused both parties to lose something important. The song ends with the singer wanting to leave the past behind and move on to something better.
Overall, the lyrics to "I Remember Me" offer a poignant commentary on the pain of letting go and moving on. The singer is struggling with conflicting emotions, wanting to hold on to the past while also wanting to move on with their life. The lyrics are beautifully written and showcase the band's insightful songwriting abilities.
