Űrhajók Makón
Thy Catafalque Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Zörgő mákházak utcája, régi város,
hajlott tornyaiban szól a szél,
a Sírkert utcában kémények dorombolnak,
a Hársfa utca fái alszanak.

Ha a Kertész utcára indulsz, csak esernyővel,
a Jég utca mélyén a birsalma, hopp!
Hullik, hullik csak, lekvár lesz éjszakára,
sárga, sárga, sárga, mint a hold.

A Bolygó utcában elvesztem űrhajóval
szép nyolcvanhárom októberén,

pedig a Nagycsillagtól a Hold utca irányába
űrhajóknak világítanak.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Thy Catafalque's song "Űrhajók Makón" paint a vivid picture of a nostalgic, almost mythical cityscape. The opening lines describe the street of rattling poppy houses in an old city, where the wind whispers through its hunched towers. In the Cemetery Street, chimneys rumble, while the trees on Hársfa Street sleep.

As the lyrics continue, there is a sense of wandering through different streets and encountering various sights. If one ventures to Kertész Street, they should bring an umbrella, suggesting that rain frequently falls there. In the depths of Jég Street, birch trees and their fruit, burls, are seemingly falling continuously, hinting at the changing seasons and the coming of autumn. It also alludes to the possibility of turning these burls into jam, which will be yellow like the moon.

In the Bolygó Street, the singer loses themselves with a spaceship in October, specifically on the beautiful 83rd of the month. However, even though they are lost, there is a guiding light from the Big Star towards Moon Street for the spaceships. This verse adds a touch of science fiction and mystery to the song, as if Makó, the city mentioned in the title, becomes a place where spaceships and strange occurrences intertwine.

Overall, the lyrics of "Űrhajók Makón" transport the listener to a dreamlike city, where nature, history, and the unknown blend together in a captivating blend of nostalgia and imagination.

Ettől a számtól mindig olyan kószának képzelem magam hogy elsétálok a levegőben legalább Makóig.

I can honestly say I don't hear this masterpiece with my ears, but with my heart...

Have some translation: Spaceships in Makó (Ürhajók Makón) A street of clattering poppyseed-houses, old town, / wind singing through its crooked towers, / chimnies purring in Casketgarden Street, / those trees of Linden-tree Street are slumbering.
