Toro y Moi Lyrics

so you won't be so afraid
of what I'm gonna try to do
It found my pulse in the mist
I'm gonna get you back from this
You'll see
You'll see
Adding up all these left
And bring them back to where they were
So bad
So bad
I'm better off than what it looks
To be, to be, to be
stationary
Follow my path and trust my words
Don't stay too long while I'm with you
While I'm with you
Black forest into the night
Take you into the other side of endless movements
Of endless movements
Check my peaceful eyes
Check if I'm alright
Check my peaceful eyes
Check if I'm alright
Check Check Check Check
Check if I'm alright
Now full of cotton and drowns
Me into to something that she'd love
That she'd love
ohh
I'm shaking in my sweet head
I am too into the street
Check my peaceful eyes
Check if I'm alright
Check my peaceful eyes
Check if I'm alright
Check Check Check Check
Check Check Check Check
The lyrics of Toro Y Moi's "Movements" seem to be about a relationship that is experiencing some turbulence and uncertainty. The singer seems to be aware of the other person's fear and is trying to appease them by tying down their hands and running away. They are still hinting at some sort of future action that will require the other person to trust them. The line "Adding up all these left and bring them back to where they were" may suggest that the singer wants to rectify whatever problems have arisen in the relationship and bring things back to how they used to be. In the midst of all of this though, the singer seems to be experiencing some inner turmoil, as the lyrics suggest with lines like "I'm shaking in my sweet head" and "Now full of cotton and drowns me into something that she'd love."
The lyrics overall have a dreamy, almost surreal quality to them. They veer between imagery like the "black forest into the night" and more mundane descriptions like "check my peaceful eyes." The repeated refrain of "check if I'm alright" seems to hint at the singer's own uncertainty and insecurity. They are looking for reassurance from the other person that they are doing the right thing, and that they haven't lost them.
