Vicente Valdés Valdés (Havana, Cuba, December 10, 1919 - New York, United States; June 26, 1995) 1 was a Cuban singer.
Biography
Vicentico Valdés was the younger brother of the singer Alfredito Valdés, and he was a member of the Septeto Nacional by Ignacio Piñeiro. Also was member of the orchestra "Cosmopolita" that directed Antonio Maria Romeu.
He also worked with the Sonora Matancera, interpreting mainly guarachas and guaguancós such as I am not handsome (guaracha of Reineiro Martínez) and the bolero mambo Decide my love. One of his most representative themes at that time was his version of The Earrings of the Moon, original by José Dolores Quiñones, a theme that helped make it known to the public
New York
Based in New York, he met Noro Morales. This one integrated it to his orchestra and with him recorded subjects like Guararé of Ricardo Fabregas, and What problem of Rudy Castel.
In subsequent years, his repertoire focused on the interpretation of boleros, although he continued to sing other indigenous rhythms of his land like guajiras, sones or guarachas.
For the label Seeco recorded a number of themes, including boleros, guarachas and even cumbias. In the album, Así sings the heart, accompanied by his own orchestra and arranged and directed by René Hernández (pianist of the Machito orchestra for some time), included songs such as: Ya'ta el guateque (rhythm orizá), Negro de Society (afro motif), Cumbia that goes of round, (cumbia) Yuyumbé (guaracha) and several boleros like You my original adoration of Jose Antonio Méndez. Also, the album Algo de tí, contains the bolero of the same name, original of Juan P. Miranda, and other boleros as I am locode Javier Vásquez, I know your story of Mario de Jesús and Save me of Atilio Bruni.
With the orchestra of Tito Puente recorded New life, Giraldo Piloto and Alberto Vera, Guaguancó in Tropicana, by M. A. Espinoza, I am happy, The glory is you, and You my divine love these last two boleros of José Antonio Méndez.
His orchestra
In his maturity as a singer, Vicentico Valdés had his own orchestra and had musical arrangements by René Hernández, Joe Caín and Javier Vásquez. The orchestra was composed by Alfredo Armenteros, Víctor Paz, Jimmy Frisaura and Pat Russo in the trumpets; Jesus Caunedo and Al Tenenbaum as saxos alto; Shelly Gold as tenor sax; Dave Kurtzerm on the baritone sax; Frank Anderson as a pianist; Bobby Rodriguez on the bass; Mervin Gold on the trombone; Felix Ventura in the congas; Joe Rodriguez in the timbale and José Mangual in the bongo. In the choir were Chivirico Dávila and Felo Brito.
Vicentico Valdés died in New York on June 26, 1995.

NO TENGO NADA. Autor Usebio Valdez Zulueta. Cantada por Vicentico Valdés
Que desencanto, hay en la vida,
Unos por mucho, otros por poco y yo sin nada
Mi vida es triste, marcho cansado,
Curso mi vida, porque en mis venas,
Hay sangre de tu edad.
Cuantas mentiras y falsedades,
Sólo en mi madre he visto cariño
No tengo nada, nada he tenido,
Sigo luchando, por si algún día, mi suerte llegará.
Cuantas mentiras y falsedades,
Sólo en mi madre he visto cariño
Yo no, no tengo nada, nada he tenido,
Sigo luchando, por si algún día, mi suerte llegará.
Gerardo Cívico - Cali Colombia
