On 15 October 2006, Vicky Leandros was elected town councillor of the Greek harbor town of Piraeus on the Pasok list. Her task concerned the Cultural and International development of Piraeus. She also served as Deputy Mayor of Piraeus. It was announced in June 2008 that Leandros decided to leave her position in Greek politics with immediate effect, stating that she had underestimated the workload and time needed to fulfill her political obligations and that it had become impossible to combine those duties with her singing career.

La Poupée Le Prince Et La Maison
Vicky Leandros Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Enfants On découvre d′autres joies,
Toit Mais quand viendra notr′ enfant comm′ hier
The lyrics to Vicky Leandros's song "La Poupée Le Prince Et La Maison" speak to the inner world of children - particularly little girls - and how they create their own scenarios and dramas with their toys. The song begins by acknowledging the universality of little girls' imagination, no matter where they come from. It then goes on to describe the singer's own experiences of coming home from school and putting off her homework in favor of playing make-believe with her doll, prince, and house. The singer reminisces on the joy and wonder of this time, when her world was full of vivid blue hues.
As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges that as children grow up, they leave behind these fantastical imaginings and discover the complexities of the adult world. However, the memories of these simpler times still hold a special place in her heart. She recalls how much she believed in her doll, and how she would sing to it until it fell asleep in her arms. She remembers dreaming of a prince who would sweep her away on a white horse, and how exciting it was to visit a world where dolls, princes, and houses all existed together in harmony.
The song ends with the singer reflecting on how, when she has a child of her own, she will be able to pass on these same toys and stories to them. She knows that even though the world may seem less magical as an adult, there will always be a part of her that believes in the power of her poupée, prince, and maison.
