In December 2009, they released an album 0. as a limited release of 500 copies in Aomori. Since the album created a lot of buzz and they were flooded with inquiries, they eventually released the album nationwide as 0.6.
As the intense worldview of their lyrics grabbed the attention of listeners with quick ears, they made a major debut with 爆弾の作り方 (How to Make a Bomb) released from Sony Music Associated Records in June 2010.

It was the only information officially shared about the band, but they have expanded their fan base by word of mouth, mostly through the Internet, to such an extent that their latest album ねえママ あなたの言うとおり (Hey Mom, It's Just as You Say) went up to number 8 in the Oricon weekly album chart.
When performing live, they have a unique style where they play behind a screen that covers the whole stage and projects various images to go along with the music. Their shows have been much talked about, and some say it gives the audience a sense of watching a film and enjoying live music at the same time.
They are also known as their music videos with CG animation and have won a variety of awards worldwide.
In 2010, their music video for 夏を待っていました ("Waiting for the Summer") won the Excellence Award at the 14th Japan Media Arts Festival. amazarashi’s 夏を待っていました and サカナクション's アルクアラウンド were the only music videos that won the awards that year.
Furthermore, they have attracted interest throughout the world as they won prizes at Annecy International Animated Film Festival (originally a part of Cannes Film Festival) in France, SIGGRAPH ASIA 2011 (the world’s biggest computer graphics event), one dot zero 2011 (a digital animation festival in London), and more.

I will now probably write a huge textwall about why this song and music video fits so perfectly to nier automata, and i dont even know why i'm doing this...
The shots that they've made, along with this song - The dolls that were torn apart and crushed violently and shown with every detail of that.
Does this give you a weird feeling? Maybe makes you sad? Disgusted? Axious?
But why are you thinking this? Aren't these just.. plaint 'Dolls' ? Mass produced, with no emotion whatsoever?
Why are you feeling these sort of feelings from something that doesn't give you anything back?
We Humans like to project feelings into things that give us a wholesome and good feeling. Especially in Emotional Situations. We crave for something, for not being alone.
Things such as Teddybears, or simply situations in life when two pieces of leaf along with a curved branch lay on the ground and we think of it as a laughing face.
And exactly this was Yoko Taro trying to project us with the robots. Entities that were not human at all, dont have real feelings - but somehow they have..?
I think everyone who had some sort of uncomfortable feeling whilst fighting against these guys could probably project something to these dolls in this music video.

When you look at the lyrics it's like it's being sung from 9s' perspective.

Think about it "I met someone I liked." Him meeting 2b again. "We unmistakenly touched." Is how they form a relationship again. "Asphalt over dirt, skin over steal." Could be taken in a literal sense or it could be how they hide their emotions. "If we instinctively chose warmth instead of the cold." How even though they try to not get close to each other they can't help it. "Then out dirt covered faces." Their faces are stained with the murder of countless machines and androids. "Are deserving of life." He realizes everyone deserves a chance at life. "There are those who snarl that we're overreaching." 9s is overreaching to get a happy future with 2b, and many people know it's almost impossible. "Bit we'll sing of their hypocrisy." They also are overreaching to win against the machine and allow the long dead humans to return to earth. "If you need a reason to push forward." He'd push forward with 2b no matter her reason "Be it anger or something else." He doesn't care what her motivations are he just wants to be with her."For the sun to rise and dry my spilled tears." He'll keep coming back to see the sun no matter how many times he dies, and his loss of memory would dry his tears."Patiently and tirelessly I wait and wait." He waits for a time when he can be with 2b and when the war would be over. "I've continued reaching, since that day it all fell apart." From the day he met 2b he's been reaching for a better future with her. "For the morning I will be redeemed." He wants to redeem himself for all he's done.
"It's worth destroying the world for the warmth I seek." After he lost 2b he didn't care if the world was destroyed because she, the warmth he seems, isn't in it. "Loneliness with loneliness" 2b is lonely in the sense that she'll have to kill 9s over and over again. 9s is lonely because he knows she'll kill him. "I'd even stomach betrayal" is one of the best lines for my point. She'll betray him over and over again each time he learns to much. "It was worth deceiving the world, for what we had." YoRHa deceived the androids by lying about the humans being alive. "Loners who had found each other" they always end up together and break the lonelyness even if it's just for a short while. "A look that said inflicting pain was to be expected" 9s knows that 2b will have to kill him, and he knows how much it hurts her to do so. "To protect what I loved, I broke many things" 9s killed so many machine lifeforms to protect 2b "So many wishes brought suddenly to an end" shows how he realizes the weight of killing those machines that had hopes and dreams just like him. "Walking across the broken pieces with bare feet" showing how the pain he inflicted on others also affected him "Falling with my next step, I'd accept death with that one step" shows how he accepts the consequences of his actions, as well as how he can't bare to live without 2b and is ready to die and be with her. "That loss, worth giving your heart for" shows how he lost his heart to grief when he lost 2b. "But sadness can't make a clean switch for joy" Sadness isn't able to substitute for joy, the emotions bring out two different things in people. In the first half of the game endings A & B he experiences joy with 2b. In the second half C&D he experiences sadness. "What happened on those travels" refers to emotional journeys as well as physical ones. "The answer is what I am now." It tells how he went through and emotional journey. "Hope, we could have thrown it away so simply." He could have lost hope at any time and given in to despair but he didn't until the very end. "If only we didn't have hearts" then maybe the pain would go away. "Light and Darkness" 9s and 2b wielder's of the light and dark blades as masamune calls the. One thing I also find interesting is how most of the machines separated from the network have green eyes, I believe this shows their humanity. So when the machines eyes change it's flickers of humanity shining through.
