The album was recorded in June and July 1975, following Tangerine Dream's Australian tour, and was heavily influenced by the places they had visited whilst on the tour.
The album consists of two instrumental compositions, each originally filling one side of vinyl. The first, "Epsilon in Malaysian Pale", is a Mellotron-based piece inspired by Froese's visit to a Malaysian jungle. The second, "Maroubra Bay", is a more synthesiser-based piece named after a place in Australia. "Maroubra Bay"
In the title track 'Epsilon in Malaysian Pale' there are the sounds of the animals and the sea lapping on a white sandy beach with palm trees and deep blues skies. Using flowing waves of music (similar to 'Oxygene' by Jean MIchelle Jarre) and mixed with the sounds of the birds the wind and breeze, it is in many essences similar to 'Phaedra' by Tangerine Dream which is understandable because of its writers musical history. 'Maroubra Bay' opens like the sudden arrival of deep crashing waves on the edge of a storm. Very quickly the track moves to the heart of the bay as the large Pacific rollers come crashing into the beach with deeply repeated rhythms.
