The Zutons Lyrics
Well sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I, think of all the things
What you're doing
And through my head I make a picture
'Cause since I've come on home
Well my body's been a mess
And I miss your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won't you come on over
Stop making a fool out of me
Why won't you come on over
Valerie, Valerie
Did you have to go to jail
Put your house on up for sale?
Did you get a good lawyer?
I hope you didn't catch a tan
I hope you find the right man
Who'll fix it for you
Are you shopping anywhere
Changed the color of your hair
Are you busy?
And did you have to pay the fine
You were dodging all the time are you still dizzy?
'Cause since I've come on home
Well my body's been a mess
And I miss your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won't you come on over
Stop making a fool out of me
Why wont you come on over
Valerie, Valerie, Valerie, Valerie
Well sometimes I go out by myself
And I look across the water
And I, think of all the things
What you're doing
And in my head I make a picture
'Cause since I've come on home
Well my body's been a mess
And I miss your ginger hair
And the way you like to dress
Won't you come on over
Stop making a fool out of me
Why won't you come on over

I always feel so musically ignorant when I listen to a song a lot never knowing that it was a cover

tbh I don't have a problem with the Amys version but I do think it's sad that when I searched "Valerie" the Zutons didn't even come up. I mean really, this is the original version.
Ian Warren
And by far the better one. I still prefer the Zuton's original. And yes, actually, I really do like Amy Winehouse's version and think she was an amazing singer.
John hughes
This is the Hydrox version, Amy did the Oreo version.

@sean mcauley it's mine too. I used to hear only Natalie's version and I thought it was OK, but Ednaswap's original song kind of blew my mind.
That's why I actually spent time discovering that band and realized they were good
