Creep
Karen Souza Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here
The lyrics to Karen Souza's song "Creep" reflect feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, and longing for acceptance. The opening lines suggest a sense of discomfort or unease when the singer is in the presence of the subject of the song. The comparison of the subject to an angel reinforces their otherworldly and unattainable nature, while the reference to crying conveys an emotional vulnerability on the part of the singer. The following lines describe the subject's grace and beauty as they move through the world, further emphasizing the singer's feelings of inferiority and desire.
The chorus of the song contains the titular line "I'm a creep" repeated twice, followed by "I'm a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here". These lyrics reveal the singer's self-awareness of their perceived strangeness or abnormality, as well as their feeling of being out of place. Despite their negative self-image, the singer still wishes to be seen as special in the eyes of the subject, indicating a deep longing for acceptance and validation.
The final verse of the song suggests a willingness on the part of the singer to do whatever it takes to make the subject happy, even at the cost of their own well-being. The repetition of the previous chorus reinforces the singer's sense of not belonging, but also highlights their desperation for connection and acceptance.

La voz de Karen acaricia y conmueve pero la orquestación es excepcional, sobretodo el piano y el contrabajo. Gran arreglo...!!

I love her deep voice. I know that high pitched female voices are normally popular but this is so sultry and classy. She sounds effortless without trying at ALL❤️😮💨

It is surprising to see the hymn of a generation of depressed and low self-esteem young people playing in such a jazzy and cheerful arrangement!!
Surprising and refreshing! thumbs up!🙂👍🏻❤

So there's this restaurant in Rhodes, Greece, near the Blue Horizons Hotel. It's not that well known, but man, is it a treat. The pearly-white beach, the crystal blue ocen, the food, and the music... man, the music. It goes beyond magical. And, the main highlight, was this very song in the restaurant's selection of songs. The calming keys, the themes of the lyrics, and the views... they combine to make some of the best moments of my life. I stayed the whole day at that place, and only left because I had to get the plane, because I had only found it on the last day. But, I knew I would had gone if I had found it earlier. Now, any time I hear this song, I hear the calm waves of the ocean and the clattering of plates, as the aroma of swordfish wafts through my nose like the summers breeze, taking me back to my new happy place. Thank you so much for making such a magnificent song.

I come to you by way of Zero Theorem. The voice as light and feather soft as an angel. Thank you.

A masterpiece level cover. A beautiful sublime music piece all around. What I would like to note is how wonderful it is, among other things, in terms of being so different from the original music wise yet so faithful to its spirit and showing a lot of respect to it by being such a masterful work of art. It is my favourite version of Creep out of all the many ones I heard.
