First Day of My Life
Bright Eyes Lyrics
This is the first day of my life
Swear I was born right in the doorway
I went out in the rain, suddenly everything changed
They're spreading blankets on the beach
Yours was the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
And I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been
But I know where I want to go
And so I thought I'd let you know
Yeah, these things take forever, I especially am slow
But I realized that I need you
And I wondered if I could come home
Remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning?
And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed
You felt as if you'd just woke up
And you said
"This is the first day of my life
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
But now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy"
So if you wanna be with me
With these things there's no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I'd rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery, ah-ha, mm-hmm
Besides, maybe this time is different
I mean, I really think you like me

I got married to this song. Unfortunately, 6 months later my husband passed away, he had a brain tumor.
I haven heard it too much ever since, coz it still hurts so much. The lyrics gave a different meaning now, I'm so happy I met him before he died, and I know he was happy he had met me before he died too.
Love you and miss you, love of my life.

@gabiluch87 The song made me cry just watching the video and then reading this mean't the tears carried on.
You are very lucky to have found someone even for 6 months. I find this song sad because I have had no one for 51 of my 54 years and the 1 relationship lasted on and off for the 3 years until I found out she was seeing someone else for the whole time.
I hope you have found or will be happily in love again.

The best line is "I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery." Everyone who believes in the crap about "soulmates" should keep this line in mind - there isn't one perfect person out there for you, with whom you will be forever happy with no problems. Love is hard work; it's sometimes putting your own feelings aside for the sake of the one you love, it's even (God forbid) being willing to change. Don't stick around in a toxic relationship, of course, but don't bail at the first problem. This is advice from someone who's been married since 1981.

It's especially ironic that Conor is an ultra-wealthy famous rock star, his situation is significantly rarer than winning the lottery.

Soulmates are real mate! You're truly lucky if you find yours....you still have to work at the relationship, but it's easier to pull through anything because you're both on that same wave. I wasn't holding out looking for a soulmate but I'm incredibly thankful and feeling blessed to have found him 💛
