Criolo began rapping in São Paulo, in 1989, and until the early 2000 was almost unknown. In 2006, he released his first studio album, entitled 'Ainda há tempo' and founded the Rinha dos MC's, a place where there are weekly shows, graffiti and photography exhibitions and freestyle.
In 2008, won the "Song of the Year" and "Person of the Year" in the fourth edition of the event "O Rap é compromisso."
To celebrate his twenty year career, he recorded a live DVD in the Rinha dos MC's, which was released in 2010, called Criolo Doido Live in SP.

(Okunlakaiê)
Ogum adjo, ê mariô
(Okunlakaiê) [8x]
Antes de Sabota escrever "Um Bom Lugar"
A gente já dançava o "Shimmy Shimmy Ya"
Chico avisara "a roda não vai parar"
Atitudes de amor devemos samplear
Mulatu Astatke e Fela Kuti escutar
In this song, Criolo pays tribute to the favela culture of São Paulo and the resilience of its people. The song starts with a call to Ogum, the Yoruba god of iron, who is revered in Afro-Brazilian religions and is associated with strength, protection and justice. Mariô is a nickname for Mario, a common name among black Brazilian men.
Criolo then references the influence of hip hop on Brazilian music and culture, particularly the song "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" by Ol' Dirty Bastard, which was popular among young people in favelas before the mainstream media took notice. The lyrics also touch on the importance of love and peace while confronting the challenges of living in a society that is plagued by inequality and violence.
The chorus, "Ogum adjo, ê mariô," repeated throughout the song, is a call to action, urging listeners to stay strong and push forward. The line "Na força do verso a rima que espanca" encapsulates the power of music and poetry to speak truth to power and inspire change.
Overall, the song is a celebration of the resilience and spirit of the people of São Paulo's periphery, who face many challenges but continue to fight for a better future.

Bravo!!
