Born on June 28, 1950 in Seattle musician David Lanz started his performing… Read Full Bio ↴Born on June 28, 1950 in Seattle musician David Lanz started his performing career in his early teens back in the mid 1960s playing keyboards with local rock bands and then years later as a solo act, deftly playing blues and jazz songs in small smoky clubs. He "stumbled" onto a different path in the early 80s. Now working as a seminal new age artist, though he prefers the label "contemporary instrumental", his piano-driven music has attracted a wide variety of fans, with multiple albums under his belt. He is perhaps best known for 'Cristofori's Dream', certified gold by the RIAA in 1993.

Fairly new exposure to this composer; absolutely love how this contributes to my mental balance as an educator. I have started to play this for my Middle School students during their independent study and surprisingly, they harass me to play this daily (truly awesome to see that happen). I find myself feeling emotionally vulnerable listening to various tunes by Mr. Lanz.

Solo Piano. There are many like him, but he is one of the original legends. One of my other favorites is Michelle McLaughlin. She also writes solo pieces and plays them with lots of emotion and care. The piano is literally speaking to us with these songs.
