La Aplanadora del Rock is known for mixing rock with Argentine folk music, and hard-to-get lyrics. The most successful point on the band's career came with the 1993 record La era de la boludez.
Other than founding members Mollo and Arnedo, different drummers have completed the normal trio: 1988 to 1990, Gustavo Collado; 1990 to 1995, Federico Gil Solá; 1995 to 2004, Jorge Araujo; and since 2004, Catriel Ciavarella.
The name of the band is taken from Sumo's favourite band and influences (the late Ian Curtis was a good friend of Luca Prodan) - Joy Division.
The band has recorded a number of covers, such as Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix and Light My Fire by The Doors. Covers not committed to CD include I Want You (She's So Heavy) and Day Tripper by The Beatles. In their shows, Divididos has played songs such as "Rock and Roll" and "Moby Dick" (Led Zeppelin), and "Little Wing" (Jimi Hendrix). The band also covers some Sumo songs, usually in medley format.

Va la magia militar.
En la vida hecha ajedrez
Nunca el peón se come al rey.
Sueldo de héroe quincenal
Casi estatua de estación.
Patria de un boyero muerto
Y un tambero digital.
Dale soga
Dale soga
Ponga humor a la verdad
Esta tierra a cero peso no es real.
Empachado de lavar
La fortuna en soledad
Nunca el peón se come al rey.
Dale soga
Ponga huevo a la verdad.
Dale soga
Ponga huevo a la verdad
Esta tierra a cero peso
Esta tierra a cero peso
Esta tierra a cero peso no es real.
The lyrics of Divididos's song "Casi Estatua" paint a picture of a society controlled by a military regime. The first stanza describes the facial expression of someone who is so used to living in a chess game that their face looks like a chess board. The "magic" of the military is described as being omnipresent, and the imagery of a pawn never being able to eat the king reflects the sense of control and oppression that pervades the society. The reference to a hero's bi-weekly salary and being like a statue in a station emphasizes the feeling of being trapped and limited.
The second stanza continues the theme of control, with the singer mentioning the desire of the predator, represented by the face of Kennedy. The reference to bread and circuses represents the way in which people can be easily manipulated and kept happy with superficial things. The duendes (mischievous people or spirits) of the interior represent the sense of rebellion that is always present but never able to succeed in overturning the power structure.
The chorus, "dale soga, ponga humor a la verdad," which can be roughly translated as "give it a rope, put some humor into the truth," encourages people to keep fighting and not give up despite the odds and the seeming futility of resistance. The final line, "Esta tierra a cero peso no es real," means "this land at zero weight is not real," emphasizing that something must have value in order to have meaning and that people must not lose sight of that.
