The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.
Apuesta por el rock n roll
Enrique Bunbury Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Iré donde quieran mi botas
Y si quieres que te diga qué hay que hacer
Te diré que apuestes por mi derrota.
Quítate la ropa así está bien
No dejes nada por hacer
Si has venido a comprarme lárgate
The first verse of Apuesta por el rock n roll by Enrique Bunbury talks about the singer's inability to offer their heart to someone. They state that they will go wherever their boots take them, implying their love for adventure and exploration. In the second half of the verse, the singer subtly advises the other person to bet on their defeat, indicating that they are not a reliable partner to be with.
The second verse talks about a brief sexual encounter, where the singer asks their partner to undress and not leave anything undone. They warn them that if they have come to buy and not stay, they should leave. On the other hand, if they want to be with the singer, they should hold on tight.
In the chorus, the singer suggests escaping with the girl to the sea, without waiting for the dawn, emphasizing a desire to experience life to its fullest. They state that they do not know if they were born to run but were surely born to gamble. In the last verse, the singer acknowledges that nothing can change their current situation, but they will keep betting while they can. They state that they have already lost their bet on rock n roll, and now it's a debt they need to pay. However, they stress that giving up does not make sense, and their heart still beats for more adventure.
Overall, the song portrays a sense of rebellion, adventure, and carefree attitude. The singer's character reflects the spirit of rock n roll, where risks are taken without worrying about the consequences.
