Fairuz was born Nouhad Haddad in Jabal al Arz, Lebanon. She began her musical career as a teenager. From chorus girl at the Lebanese radio station in the late 1940s, to critical and popular acclaim from the 1950s to today, Fairuz is acknowledged not only for her musical talent and contribution, but also as a cultural and political icon. A symbol of a people, a heritage, a quest for peace, and of humanity. During most of her career, Fairuz reflected two other great artists, Assi and Mansour Rahbani. They wrote the lyrics and composed her tunes. Today, many of her songs reflect the composing talent of Ziad Rahbani who is Fairuz's son. Her songs testify to the Rahbani musical genius, as well as to Fairuz's broad musical background. Referred to as "The Soul of Lebanon" in the 1970s, Fairuz became a pre-eminent figure, a superstar of current music in the Arab world. Together, the Rahbani family is both a school of music and a cultural phenomenon.

Translated to English, the lyrics of Fairuz's song Rah Jahin Ya Hawa express the desire to return to a time of love and happiness. The song begins with a call to return to the beloved, who is referred to as the flower of the poor, and the house of love, which is burning with the fire of passion. The singer longs to go back to a time when they were deeply in love, but were forced to leave and forget their feelings in a place of forgetfulness. However, they express the hope that they will return to the house of love, despite their uncertainty about how to get there.
The song is also about the power dynamics in relationships. The beloved is described as arrogant or haughty, while the singer is portrayed as a lover who is constantly pining for their attention. The singer emphasizes the intensity of their love, but also acknowledges that the beloved seems to have the upper hand in the relationship. Despite this power imbalance, the singer still hopes to return to the house of love and rekindle their passion.
