Gonna wrap my head around
What I can do without
Right now I’m doing too much
Yeah I’m feeling overwhelmed
(An) anchor is tied around
My feet and I’m going down
I feel cornered
Like I never have before
It’s something I’m fighting
It’s right out my front door
So here we go again
We’re starting over
Trying to pretend
We have composure
But our façade is broken
We’re left out in the open
I’m cutting all ties
To what I have compromised
It’s time I lived my life
I want to prioritize
Before my own demise
Everything I love the most
I feel cornered
Like I never have before
But I’m still fighting
And fighting
So here we go again
We’re starting over
Trying to pretend
We have composure
But our façade is broken
We’re left out in the open
Just give me some room to catch my breath
I’ve been getting by with just what’s left
As time goes by you can see the cracks
I’m broken
So here we go again
We’re starting over
Trying to pretend
We have composure
But our façade is broken
We’re left out in the open
So here we go again
We’re starting over
Trying to pretend
We have composure
But our façade is broken
We’re left out in the open
Fight the Fade's song "Composure" explores the idea of starting over and trying to maintain composure while dealing with overwhelming and challenging situations. The first verse talks about feeling overwhelmed and tied down by obligations, leading to a feeling of being cornered. The singer is trying to figure out what they can do without and cut ties with things they have compromised on. The chorus talks about the facade being broken and being left out in the open, which could possibly suggest a sense of vulnerability.
The second verse continues with the theme of cutting ties and living life by prioritizing, which is one way to maintain composure. However, the singer still feels cornered but is still fighting. The bridge mentions the cracks in the singer's life becoming more and more visible as time goes by, showing that the facade that they try to maintain is starting to break down. The chorus is repeated twice, emphasizing the idea of starting over, trying to pretend that everything is okay, while dealing with a broken facade and feeling exposed and vulnerable.
Overall, "Composure" portrays the struggle of dealing with overwhelming situations and trying to maintain a composed exterior while feeling vulnerable and exposed. It explores the idea of starting over, prioritizing, and cutting ties as a way to maintain composure.
