Monster
Fight The Fade Lyrics

I don’t act the same
My minds rearranging
I don’t feel a thing
I’m not the kid that I used to be
I’ve grown into a man
They just don’t know the other half of me
When I look at myself in the mirror
I can see clearer
I’m nothing but a monster
You can see it in my eyes
It’s crawling under my skin
And I don’t think I can hide what
I am
Anymore
I’m nothing but a monster
There’s a Devil on my shoulder
He’s trying to come in
He said you might think you know me
But you don’t know my sins
There’s a place where my demons try to hide
Deep down inside of me
For so long I’ve kept them locked away but tonight
I’m setting them free
When I look at myself in the mirror
I can see clearer
I’m nothing but a monster
You can see it in my eyes
It’s crawling under my skin
And I don’t think I can hide what
I am
Anymore
I’m nothing but a monster
The man in my reflection
And I am not the same
You see him in my likeness
He answers to my name
When I look at myself in the mirror
I can see clearer
I’m nothing but a monster
You can see it in my eyes
It’s crawling under my skin
And I don’t think I can hide what I am,
I don’t think I can hide what, I am
I’m nothing but a monster
The lyrics of “Monster” by Fight the Fade explore the idea of one’s inner demons and the struggles that come with keeping them hidden. The singer describes feeling as though they are changing and that their mind is in turmoil. They feel like a different person now, and others don’t know the other half of their true self. That half is a monster that lives within them and seems to be crawling under their skin.
They also talk about the devil on their shoulder, who is tempting them to succumb to their sins, and the demons that they have locked away but are now setting free. The man they see in the mirror is not the same as before, and they realize that they are nothing but a monster. The song highlights the struggle of dealing with one’s inner demons, and the feeling of not being able to hide who they truly are anymore.
The lyrics of “Monster” can be interpreted in different ways. One interpretation could be that the singer is struggling with mental health issues and has been keeping them hidden for some time. The idea of a monster living within them is a metaphor for their condition, and the devil and demons represent their inner struggles. Another interpretation could be that the singer has done something that they are not proud of and is now struggling to keep it hidden.

You people are lucky. I have to remix this song and I can't stand it. The melody just doesn't hook me in (which makes doing the remix rather easy, but it is difficult hearing it over and over again). I am glad you folks are digging it though. 👍
