No nosso destino mandar
Mas eis que chega a roda-viva
E carrega o destino pra lá
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
A gente vai contra a corrente
Até não poder resistir
Na volta do barco é que sente
O quanto deixou de cumprir
Faz tempo que a gente cultiva
A mais linda roseira que há
Mas eis que chega a roda-viva
E carrega a roseira pra lá
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
A roda da saia, a mulata
Não quer mais rodar, não senhor
Não posso fazer serenata
A roda de samba acabou
A gente toma a iniciativa
Viola na rua, a cantar
Mas eis que chega a roda-viva
E carrega a viola pra lá
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
O samba, a viola, a roseira
Um dia a fogueira queimou
Foi tudo ilusão passageira
Que a brisa primeira levou
No peito a saudade cativa
Faz força pro tempo parar
Mas eis que chega a roda-viva
E carrega a saudade pra lá
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
Roda mundo, roda-gigante
Rodamoinho, roda pião
O tempo rodou num instante
Nas voltas do meu coração
"Roda Viva" by Francisco el Hombre is a song that reflects on the cyclical nature of life and how we often feel powerless against the forces that shape our destiny. The lyrics portray a sense of disillusionment and frustration as the singer realizes that their desires and aspirations are constantly being carried away by the uncontrollable wheel of life.
The song opens with the lines "There are days when we feel like those who have left or died / We suddenly stagnated or was it the world that grew?" These lines convey a sense of detachment from the world and a feeling of being left behind or overwhelmed by its constant change. The singer desires to have an active voice in shaping their own destiny but realizes that the "roda-viva" (wheel of life) arrives and carries their destiny away, leaving them feeling powerless.
Throughout the song, the repetition of the phrase "Roda mundo, roda-gigante" (Wheel of the world, Ferris wheel) emphasizes the relentless cycle of life and the feeling of being caught up in its whirlwind. The lyrics also touch on the themes of resistance and missed opportunities. The singer goes against the current, but eventually realizes in the boat's return that they have missed out on fulfilling their desires and dreams.
The song also references the symbol of the rosebush, which represents something beautiful and cherished. Despite the singer's efforts to cultivate the most beautiful rosebush, the wheel of life arrives and carries it away, symbolizing the fleeting nature of beauty and the inevitability of loss.
In the final verse, the song reflects on the nostalgia and longing for what was lost. The singer mentions the samba, the viola (a string instrument), and the rosebush as symbols of joy and passion that have been extinguished or taken away. The song ends with the repetition of the lines "Roda mundo, roda-gigante / Rodamoinho, roda pião / O tempo rodou num instante / Nas voltas do meu coração" (Wheel of the world, Ferris wheel / Spinning top, spinning wheel / Time turned in an instant / In the turns of my heart), conveying the cyclical nature of life and the emotions that come with it.
Overall, "Roda Viva" examines the fleetingness of desires, the powerlessness against the forces that shape our destiny, and the cyclical nature of life, leaving the listener with a contemplative and introspective experience.

Triste que essa música continua atual, que ainda tenhamos motivos para fazer essas releituras... Apesar de tudo... é isso. A arte ainda nos salva, ou nos sustenta, pelo menos em algum sentido.
