I must say that of the Op 33 set I infinitely prefer Nos 4, 5 & 6 to Nos 1, 2 & 3.

@elaineblackhurst1509

Almost all the sets of three or six composed by Haydn and Mozart (and Beethoven in the next generation), explore different areas, are in different keys, have different emotional content, different structures, different intentions, et cetera.

Mozart’s last three symphonies illustrate this well; but so too do Haydn’s last three piano sonatas, or the six ‘Paris’ symphonies, and this set of quartets; similarly Beethoven’s Opus 1 piano trios, and Opus 18 quartets follow this varied pattern.

It is therefore inevitable that some will resonate more or less with different listeners - often dependent on the mood at the time, but the key point is that they are specifically intended to be different - not the same - so preferences are inevitable.

What is the name of the painting?

Leopold I, Grand Duke of Tuscany with his wife Maria Luisa and their children
Artista: Johann Zoffany

With respect, I think he was Leopold II. If you google him you will see his portrait. Warmest thanks for
attribution to Zoffany and best wishes, Allan

Some notes are not according with my sheet score.

@brothersamati

I know this is not PC, but I do like the inharmonicity of a modern metal E string. I suspect Haydn might have too.
