Discovered by Luc Plamondon singing American blues tunes in small Sherbrooke bars, he was drafted by Plamondon to play the role of Quasimodo in his musical Notre-Dame de Paris, making him a star. After the musical, he managed to launch a successful international pop music career in Quebec, France, and many other European countries. His looks and hoarse voice, as well as the virility that he combines with a boyish niceness, brought many to see him as a major modern day sex symbol.

Elles restent debout
Garou's song La Moitié Du Ciel discusses the treatment of women in society and the inequality they face. The first verse begins by highlighting traditional feminine associations, such as softness and delicacy, but then transitions to how women are subjected to hardship and suffering, despite their gentle and nurturing nature. The next verse talks about how despite the abuse and challenges they face, women don't resort to hate and violence. The chorus repeats the song's message that if God exists and can hear their prayers, then he should protect and look after the "moitié du ciel" (half of the sky) - a metaphor for women who are an integral part of society and need to be treated with equality and respect.
The song's lyrics were written by Jacques Veneruso, who is most famous for composing Céline Dion's hit "S'il suffisait d'aimer". La Moitié Du Ciel was released in 2006 and was an immediate success, reaching number one on the French charts.

I am glad you were able to understand my previous comment. I subscribed to your channel.
