When I played this piece at a church someone accidentally turned off the lights and someone sang the people that played in darkness. It went the people that played in darkness can't see the the great light will have to find the great light?

Yes. They are using common Baroque pitch at A=415 hz, so it sounds half a tone lower than the "usual" A=440 hz.
