The Bitter End
Girls Under Glass Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
you hurt me deep inside before you start
to break my heart to break our love to let me down
You see me falling slow in your arms
and Iam crying my tears are warm
you break my heart you break our love you let me down
The Bitter End why don't you understand
why do you go? why do I love you so?
why do you treat me until the bitter end?
The lyrics of Girls Under Glass's song The Bitter End depict a person who is deeply hurt by their partner leaving them. The singer in the song is falling deep into their heart and the pain caused by their partner hurting them before they even start to break their heart. The repetition of "you break my heart to break our love to let me down" emphasizes the singer's pain and the feeling of betrayal they are experiencing. They describe crying in their partner's arms, feeling the warmth of their tears, while their heart is breaking because of the abandonment they are facing.
The chorus of the song asks several rhetorical questions, which underline the singer's confusion and despair. They ask why their partner does not understand their love, why they leave them for another man/land, and why they treat them so badly until the bitter end. The use of the word bitter end indicates that the singer feels like their relationship has come to a devastating conclusion and there is nothing left for them to do but grieve the loss.
Overall, The Bitter End is a heartbreaking portrayal of a relationship that has come to an end. The lyrics are raw and emotional, expressing the intense pain of abandonment and betrayal.
