At this point of time the band was playing together with two guest musicians (Marcel Zürcher, drummer of Abwärts, Schwansee, Shanghaid Guts) and Olaf O (bassplayer). Flowers (second album was recorded). Members: Thomas Lücke (vocals) Zaphor (guitars) Hauke Harms (keyboards), Axel Ermes (bassplayer). Axel joined the band and was integrated into the real band-line up. Axel and Zaphor played at this point of time parallel in the German cult band Cancer Barrack.
In 1990 Zaphor left Cancer Barrack and concentrated on the third GUG album. Main singer Thomas Lücke left the band and Zaphor took over the singers part. Rodney Orpheus of The Cassandra Complex produced the third GUG album called Positive and started a friendship with Zaphor. Zaphor joined The Cassandra Complex studio and live-lineup and was working together with Rodney for many years. 1990 was really a year of changes and re-starts.

Additional drums on tour were played by Tippi Agogo (musician from Vancouver and close friend to The Legendary Pink Dots and Skinny Puppy musicians-scene).
Firewalker was recorded in 1997. The hardest record GUG ever made. Totally inspired by the American industrial metal & electro music scene such as NIN, KMFDM, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, etc. Girls asked ex-KMFDM drummer Rudi Naomi to join the band for the tour. GUG toured together with Deathline Int´l, a German-American-electro-act.

Wings
Girls Under Glass Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And nothing seems to work
Nobody seems to care
Then you are simply there
And you take my hand
And you hold me tight
You make me fly you make me feel so right
Your fingers mend my wings I need you
And when you take my hand
Lead me to fairyland
I know you can take me there
Into places where I've never ever been on to
Faces that I've never ever seen
I want to fly in your arms tonight
Your fingers mend my wings I need your hands on my skin
When everything is grey
And nothing seems to work
Nobody seems to care
And you are simply there
And you take my hand
And you hold me tight
Make me fly, mend my wings,
Spread my wings
The lyrics of Girls Under Glass's "Wings" describe a person who is feeling lost and helpless in a grey and unfulfilling world. They feel like nobody cares about them until they find someone who is "simply there" for them. This person takes their hand and holds them tight, making them feel like they can fly and giving them a sense of comfort and protection. They describe this person's touch as mending their wings and allowing them to soar. The song speaks to the idea that sometimes all we need is one person to believe in us and lift us up, and that person can make all the difference in the world.
The lyrics of "Wings" are very poetic and could be interpreted in a number of different ways. One could see the song as being about romantic love, with the person singing about their lover who makes them feel like they can fly. Alternatively, it could be about a close friend or family member who has been there for the person through a difficult time. The metaphor of wings suggests a sense of freedom and the idea that anything is possible.
