Salvador recorded several songs written with Boris Vian with Quincy Jones as arranger.
In the 60's Salvador was the television host of several popular TV variety shows on French TV.
Henri Salvador and his song "Dans mon île" (1957) is said to have unwittingly inspired bossa nova in Brazil, as Carlos Tom Jobim would have exclaimed on hearing the song "This is what you have to do! Slow down the tempo of samba, add a good melody and top it with beautiful chords!"
Caetano Veloso, a renowned brasilian composer and singer, made a direct reference at Salvador in his song "Reconvexo" : "quem não sentiu o swing de Heri Salvador ?" (who hasn't felt the swing of Henri Salvador ?)
In (1964) Henri Salvador scored a popular French hit with "Zorro est arrivé" (which was inspired by the English song "Along Came Jones"). His song "Mais non, mais non" (1969) inspired Jim Henson' song Mahna Mahna. These kind of comedy songs made him well known in France. He is also famous for his good nature and rich, catchy laugh, which is a standalone feature in many of his humoristic songs.
He has a brother, André, and a sister Alice. He became a musician and comedian. Later he uncovered new French talents Keren Ann and Art Mengo.

Corde,
Cuivres,
Chaaarme...
Regarde la,
Douce et fragile à la fois,
Elle ne dis, elle se tait
Mais ton coeur brule en secret
Mais c'est plus fort que toi,
T'aimerais bien l'embrasser
Tu rêvais d'elle,
Tu l'attends depuis toujours,
Si c'est un roman d'amour, faut provoquer l'étincelle
Et les mots crois-moi, pour ça il n'y en a pas
Décide toi, Embrasse-la.
(avec moi maintenant)
Chalalalalala my oh my
The song "Embrasse-la" by Henri Salvador is about a man's yearning to kiss a woman whom he has longed for and loved secretly. The lyrics speak of the man's internal struggle, his fear of rejection, and his longing to embrace the woman. The song's opening lines describe the various musical instruments used in the song, creating a melodic atmosphere of anticipation that gradually leads to the chorus where the singer encourages the man to make his move and embrace her.
As the man yearns to be with her, the lyrics tell him to take the opportunity to grab her hand and make a move. The woman is quiet and does not say anything, so he must take the chance to make his move before it's too late. The lyrics encourage him not to be afraid and to embrace her, thereby igniting the spark of romance. The chorus of the song is catchy, and the singer repeats "embrasse-la" as if coaxing the man to kiss her.
Overall, the song "Embrasse-la" is a romantic song that encourages men not to be afraid to take the leap and embrace the woman they love.
