Aside from music used directly for the webcomic, fictional characters from the story have been credited with creating records themselves. The "Midnight Crew", a group of mobster characters, have released "Drawing Dead", who play what has been described as a "dark jazz" style of music. More albums of this nature have been hinted at. The Homestuck Music Crew has also released the "Squiddles Sing Along" album, the soundtrack to an imaginary kids show about happy-happy squids who "Kiss because they can't help it," as well as "The Felt", an orchestral style album based off of the rivals of the Midnight Crew. The released albums also feature many theme songs for the characters in the comic.

'Darko' is from the title of the film 'Donnie Darko', which is to do with stable timelines and shit like that.

The full version of the quote behind the image of Doc Scratch is from the book 'House of Leaves':

@Xennified Donnie Darko is about a boy that must come to terms with the fact that, to save the universe and his love, he must employ time travel in such a way that he is doomed, as he lives in what the Homestuck fanbase would call a Beta Timeline. Compare this to Aradia's role throughout the trolls' timeline, and what now seems to be the kids' role in their new, post-scratch alpha timeline and I think the similarities are rather stark.
