Time to Say Goodbye
Jackie Evancho Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Quando sono sola
Sogno all'orizzonte
E mancano le parole
Si lo so che non c'è luce
In una stanza quando manca il sole
Se non ci sei tu con me, con me
Time to say goodbye
Paesi che non ho mai
Veduto e vissuto con te

Adesso sì li vivrò

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jackie Evancho's song Time to Say Goodbye speak to the longing for love and connection in the face of darkness and solitude. The opening lines, "Quando sono sola/Sogno all'orizzonte/E mancano le parole/Si lo so che non c'è luce" express the feeling of seeking for something greater in life, dreaming of a horizon where words cannot do justice to the beauty and fulfillment that is hoped for. The despair of missing out on light and warmth is palpable, as "In una stanza quando manca il sole/Se non ci sei tu con me, con me" portrays the deep need for companionship in order to stave off the darkness. Yet, amidst the pain of loneliness, there is a glimmer of hope as the chorus declares "Time to say goodbye" - an acknowledgment that endings and new beginnings are necessary for growth and renewal. The final lines "Paesi che non ho mai/Veduto e vissuto con te/Adesso sì li vivrò" emphasize the idea that new experiences and adventures are now possible with the support of a loved one, and that life is meant to be shared with others rather than faced alone.

Quando sono solo
Sogno all’orizzonte
E mancan le parole.
Si lo so che non c’è luce
In una stanza quando manca il sole,
Se non ci sei tu con me, con me.

Su le finestre
Mostra a tutti il mio cuore
Che hai acceso,
Chiudi dentro me la luce che
Hai incontrato per strada.

Con te partirò.
Paesi che non ho mai
Veduto e vissuto con te,
Adesso si li vivrò.
Con te partirò
Su navi per mari
Che, io lo so,
No, no, non esistono più,
Con te io li vivrò.

Quando sei lontana
Sogno all’orizzonte
E mancan le parole.
E io sì lo so che sei con me, con me,
Tu mia luna tu sei qui con me.
Mio sole tu sei qui con me,
Con me, con me, con me.

Con te partirò.
Paesi che non ho mai
Veduto e vissuto con te,
Adesso si li vivrò.
Con te partirò
Su navi per mari
Che, io lo so,
No, no, non esistono più,
Con te io li rivivrò.

Con te partirò
Su navi per mari
Che, io lo so,
No, no, non esistono più,
Con te io li rivivrò.
Con te partirò.
Io con te.

Just amazing.  Jackie held her own.  This was something that will probably never be topped in her life.  Singing with the best tenor in the world.  Jackie seems to keep drawing the best of the best to her.  They all want to sing with her.  Just awesome.  Thanks for posting this video.

@Ihdc1

+pickin4you Andrea Bocelli isn't a very powerful tenor so holding her own against him isn't that impressive for a competent singer. Compared to the likes of real operatic tenors, Bocelli's voice is feeble. If Jackie had sung with Placido Domingo, we wouldn't be able to hear her. On the other hand, Sarah Brightman once sang this song with Domingo and was able to mostly hold her own against him without being overpowered by him. Lastly, Bocelli was never regarded as the best tenor in the world. The most popular candidates for that title are Pavarotti(when he was alive), and Domingo.

Jackie sang this song with Sarah Brightman when she was on AGT at the age of 10.  Jackie is also on Placido Domingo's next album, and she has also done a duet with Jose Carreras with this same song in Taiwan a couple of years ago.

@Ihdc1

I know she sang with Brightman.  She dueted with carreras but never this song, she sang it solo in her taiwan performance.  And Placido Domingo hasn't released a crossover album in over 15 years.

You're correct about Carreras, it was Ave Maria.  As far as Placido...http://www.sonymusic.es/uncategorized/placido-domingo-presenta-my-christmas-con-algunas-de-las-mas-emotivas-canciones-de-navidad/

Song number 7 is Jackie on his Christmas Album.  Not singing with him, but he added her on his album.

OMG! What a great experience for Jackie Evancho and the audience to be in the same place as Andrea Bocelli, one of best living tenor on earth. Wished the video recorded the audience response afterwards.

Two exceptionally strong, talented, performers. I would love to see a Vevo release of this. Thank you David Foster for making this happen.
