Nothing Ever Hurt Like You

Oh, oh, oh,
Yeah yeah yeah
Hey
If loving you is easy,
Playing by the rules,
But you said love taste so much better when its cruel
Yeah you played me good,
But I want you, I want you, I want you,
So much more than I should,
Yes I do.
I've got my hands up so take your aim,
Yeah I'm ready,
There's nothing that we can't go through,
Oh it hit me like a steal freight train,
When you left me,
And nothing ever hurt like you,
Nothing ever hurt like you.
I was naive and wide eyed,
But you made me see,
That you don't get to taste the honey,
Without the sting of a bee,
No you don't.
Yes you stung me good,
Oh yeah you dug in deep,
But ill take, ill take it, ill take it
Till I'm down on my knees.
I've got my hands up so take your aim,
Yeah I'm ready,
There's nothing that we can't go through,
Walk a thousand miles on broken glass,
It wont stop me,
From making my way back to you,
Its not real till you feel the pain,
And nothing ever hurt like you,
Nothing ever hurt like you.
Oh everything was just a game,
Yeah you played me good,
But I want you, I want you, I want you,
I want you, I want you.
I've got my hands up so take your aim,
Yeah I'm ready,
There's nothing that we can't go through,
Walk a thousand miles on broken glass,
It wont stop me,
From making my way back to you,
Its not real till you feel the pain,
And nothing ever hurt like you,
Nothing ever hurt like you.
In James Morrison's Nothing Ever Hurt Like You, it seems that the singer is reflecting on their past relationship with their significant other. They admit that they knew the rules of being in love and that they played fair, but their partner preferred it when things were cruel. The partner treated everything as a game and played mind games with the singer. However, despite knowing that their love was not healthy, the singer still wants their partner badly, more than they should.
Nevertheless, the singer seems to indicate that they are ready for anything that may happen. They are ready to take the hits and go through anything together. Even when their partner left them, the pain was almost unbearable. The singer compares the pain to being struck by a steel freight train. But still, they are ready to put in the hard work, even if it means walking on broken glass for a thousand miles. Finally, the singer concludes by saying that the feelings are not real until they feel the pain, and nothing ever hurt like their partner.
Overall, the song seems to express the complicated emotions that come with being in a toxic relationship, yet still wanting that person despite the pain they may cause. It highlights the contradictions and challenges that love can bring.
