On January 26, 1986, French humorist Coluche, who had set up Les Restos du Cœur a few months earlier, invited a number of artists and public figures to appear on television as a promotional move. The band, whose line-up was never the same, was dubbed "Les Enfoirés" in reference to one of Coluche's catchwords. After Coluche died in a motorbike accident (June 19, 1986) his widow, Véronique Colucci, called on those who had participated to continue his actions, and the band was revived for a further television show. The concept has since evolved into an annual concert, bringing together up to forty artists and celebrities from various backgrounds. The funds raised by the concerts and derived records under the name "Enfoirés" are donated to Les Restos du Cœur.
One of the key features of Les Enfoirés is "La Chanson des Enfoirés", a song which became a sort of hymn to the charity, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, a long-time supporter of the organisation.

The lyrics of "Désenchantée" by Les Enfoirés speak to a sense of disillusionment and frustration, reflecting on the troubled state of the world and the struggles faced by the singer and their generation.
In the first verse, the singer describes the depths of uncertainty and instability they feel, using the metaphor of swimming in troubled waters. They are waiting for an end, perhaps the end of their own troubles or the end of the chaotic world around them. They feel like they are floating in a heavy and suffocating atmosphere, with no one to reach out to for support or help. If they are to fall from a great height, they hope for a slow descent, emphasizing their desire for respite from the constant turmoil. They can only find this respite in indifference, a detachment from the chaos that surrounds them. They long to regain their innocence and find meaning in life, but everything seems senseless and nothing is going well.
In the second verse, the singer expresses their need to find someone or something that can provide guidance and support during this tumultuous time. The ideals they once held dear have been damaged, and they search for a soul that can help them. They identify themselves as part of a disillusioned generation, a generation that has lost its faith and hope in the world. The singer questions who can prevent them from hearing everything, when reason collapses. They wonder who they can turn to, who can comfort them in the face of uncertainty. They acknowledge that while death remains a mystery, life is far from tender. If heaven has a hell, then heaven can wait for them. They implore someone to tell them how to navigate through these opposing winds, questioning the way forward. They reiterate that nothing makes sense anymore and everything is falling apart.
The chorus emphasizes the chaos and uncertainty that pervade the singer's world. All their ideals and hopes seem shattered and damaged, reduced to mere words. They desperately seek a soul that can offer assistance and guidance. They identify themselves as part of a disillusioned generation, highlighting the broader disenchanted state of their peers.
In conclusion, "Désenchantée" by Les Enfoirés expresses a profound sense of disillusionment and despair. The lyrics convey the singer's struggle to find meaning and purpose in a chaotic and indifferent world. They seek solace and support, but feel let down by damaged ideals and a generation that is disillusioned. The repeated reference to chaos underscores the pervasive sense of disorder and confusion that characterizes the singer's experience.
