On January 26, 1986, French humorist Coluche, who had set up Les Restos du Cœur a few months earlier, invited a number of artists and public figures to appear on television as a promotional move. The band, whose line-up was never the same, was dubbed "Les Enfoirés" in reference to one of Coluche's catchwords. After Coluche died in a motorbike accident (June 19, 1986) his widow, Véronique Colucci, called on those who had participated to continue his actions, and the band was revived for a further television show. The concept has since evolved into an annual concert, bringing together up to forty artists and celebrities from various backgrounds. The funds raised by the concerts and derived records under the name "Enfoirés" are donated to Les Restos du Cœur.
One of the key features of Les Enfoirés is "La Chanson des Enfoirés", a song which became a sort of hymn to the charity, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, a long-time supporter of the organisation.

The lyrics of Les Enfoirés's song "Le jour se lève" depict a sense of loneliness and heartache in the midst of a world filled with love. The singer finds themselves alone, as everyone else is either in a state of love or asleep. The repetition of "Mais moi, je reste seul!" (But I remain alone!) emphasizes their solitude and isolation.
As the day dawns on their pain, the rest of the world is busy making love. The contrast between the singer's despair and the world's celebration of love is highlighted in the lines "Le jour se lève sur ma peine alors, le monde entier fait l'amour" (The day dawns on my sorrow, while the whole world makes love). However, despite feeling left out, the singer dances for the one they love, suggesting a bittersweet hopefulness in their expression of devotion.
In the final verse, as the morning approaches, the singer realizes that everyone else will leave, further accentuating their solitude. The repetition of "Le jour se lève sur ma peine alors, le monde entier fait l'amour" reinforces the idea that while the world is full of love, the singer is consumed by their own pain and loneliness. The song ends with the acknowledgement that despite the world's celebratory love, the singer remains alone.
Overall, "Le jour se lève" explores the themes of solitude, longing, and unrequited love. It paints a poignant picture of a person who feels disconnected from the rest of the world, as they witness the dawn of a new day while carrying their personal pain.
