About name
La Mano Negra ("The Black Hand") was a supposed anarchist organization in Andalucía, Spain, accused of many terrorist acts. Although, in latter studies, its existence was found unlikely and was probably an excuse used by the government under Sagasta to oppress anarchist activity in southern Spain.
Hamburger Fields

And here goes mummy
The baby's pretty
His name is johnny...
In the hamburger fields, in the hamburger fields,
Sixty years in the hamburger fields
Let's celebrate
Well it's a date
Let's eat pop corn
This child's gonna leave
In the hamburger fields
Yeah he's gonna leave
In the hamburger fields
In the hand of fate
He'll be educated
In the hamburger fields
In the hamburger fields
Over the soda rivers
In front of the gasoil sea
Havin' t.v. dreams
Under the air conditionned skies
Fly fly my baby fly
No matter if your daddy cries
Fly fly my baby fly
Over the hamburger fields
A child is born
Let's celebrate
Well it's a date
Let's eat pop corn
In the hand od fate
He'll be educated
In the hand of fate
He's gonna leave
In the hamburger fields
In the hamburger fields
A child is born
Well it's a date
In the hamburger fields
In the hamburger fields
A child is born...
The song "Hamburger Fields" by Mano Negra reflects on the harsh realities of life for those who work in the fast-food industry. The lyrics begin with a reference to a family, "daddy" and "mummy," welcoming a new baby, "Johnny." However, this joy is short-lived as the song shifts to a reference to the "hamburger fields." The repeated line "Sixty years in the hamburger fields" implies a lifetime working in the fast food industry, with no escape in sight. The future for Johnny is not bright, as he too will be educated and ultimately trapped in the same job. The imagery of "soda rivers," "gasoil sea," and "air-conditioned skies" paint a picture of a dystopian world where consumption and consumerism reign supreme, and people are reduced to cogs in a corporate machine. The chorus "Fly fly my baby fly" suggests that the only escape for Johnny is to leave this world behind.
The song can be interpreted as a commentary on capitalism and the exploitation of workers. The "hamburger fields" are representative of any industry where workers are overworked, underpaid, and have little hope of escape. The song critiques the system that creates these conditions and acknowledges that such a system is insufficient in providing an equitable future for everyone.
