Her self-titled debut album, Mathilde Santing, came out in 1982 and she gas released well over fifteen studio albums since, most of them sung in English, although she sometimes performs and records in her mother tongue as well. Known for her whispery and vulnerable vocal style, Santing is a prominent gay role model in The Netherlands. She sang at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1998 Gay Games in Amsterdam.
Santing's biggest chart success came in 1999 with the lush ballad 'Wonderful Life', which hit #6 in the Dutch Top 40. The song was taken from the 1999 album To Others To One, which is her highest charting album in her native Netherlands to date, reaching #4 in the Dutch album charts.

Noach
Noach
Hey, Noach, Noach
Waarom ben je niet aan boord?
Noach, Noach
Noach
The lyrics to Mathilde Santing's song "Noach" tell the story of the biblical character Noah and his building of the ark to escape the flood. However, the song takes on a more fantastical tone, with various animals and creatures clamoring to get on board the boat as the flood approaches. The lyrics describe the chaos and panic that ensues, with even unlikely animals like hyenas and hares joining the fray. The song also highlights the absurdity of the situation, with animals like pigs talking to their piglets in Chinese and a tardy turtle offering up millions of marks to secure a spot on the ark.
Despite its humorous tone, the lyrics contain a deeper message about the dangers of ignoring impending danger until it is too late. The singer repeatedly calls out to Noah, asking why he is not on board the boat, highlighting the importance of being prepared for disaster and taking action to avoid it. Overall, "Noach" is a witty and thought-provoking interpretation of the biblical flood story, offering a fresh perspective on a well-known tale.
