Two weeks ago I won some tickets in my church and thought: "Hey, YMS gave Baby Driver a 9. Let's give it a shot." And boy, was it worth it. Completely agree with the rating. I share more or less the same complaints about the movie plus two more. I know they were kinda mandatory, but still bugged me:
SPOILERS AHEAD:
-They cut off large chunks of Brighton Rock. I know that the scene might have been overlong had it played the whole song, but if it came from the car, I can't stop imagining Budd fiddling with his iPod/whatever during the scene. I wouldn't say this wasn't the case (the main character does that from time to time), but couldn't they have ONE shot of the guy doing it to show that any moment that the music jumps are because of that?
-The main girl character (Debora) was a well-rounded character, so we know she's not an airhead. Because of that, I expected her to run away from the guy who has killed two men in front of her and has been in some shady business. But nah, they hook up. Again, I know this was mandatory, but maybe a little scene of her visiting in prison would have helped. Kind of like: "You're dangerous" "I'm sorry, I was pressured to make that because they said they would kill you" "Oh, that explains everything, let's hook up". But even in the most violent scenes, she doesn't seem to question the actions of his boyfriend.
But that's just me nitpicking. It's a great movie and I would recommend it to everyone.

I always got the impression that Bats was full of himself and that was the point of his character. Baby has things to worry about but Bats is a self-important child that says he's crazy.
