Towards 1970 there began to materialise the Basque City. Never before had the noun and the adjective joined together. One spoke of the Mountain, the Earth, the Nation, all of them Basque; but the privileged space where the world became truly wide seemed forbidden to those who wished to express themselves in the language that sustains the adjective, the Basque tongue. It was as if someone, the Spirit of the Time, for example, might have hurled out an order: "Either change your language, or change your place". Which in the case of RO, meant: "Dear friend, either devote yourself to romantic music or to patriotic music. And if not, give it up". The message was clear. It meant solitude. And it was a curse. A snare.
RO put up with the solitude, and against the long road he opposed his will and his intelligence. RO forgot the curse: from his first records, his material was diverse, general, non-religious: he could do with the laundry, a van, or a visit from a woman. RO eluded the snare: instead of crossing to the other side of the border, he remained close to it and took on its history. He didn¹t become the chameleon of the storybook tale, neither in a branch of the General Bank of Music, nor in the International Basque Singer for Tourists. He remained a personal creator, with committed lyrics and music towards his loved, hated, distant, close Basque City.

Kristalak eztali
Eta gogaitua nago honez gero
Autobusarekin
Eguraldiaren berri irratian
Eta zer dio alu horrek
Galdu zintudanetik.
Orain zure oroimena
Arraia laranja kolore beltza
Faltan ditut
Estazioetan ematen geroztik orduak
Galdu zintudanetik
Hutsean ari
Alperrik nabil
Galdu zintudanetik
Teloia jausita mikroak bildu
Gauez etxaldera bakarrik zurekin
Herdoila seinaletan lo
Hau bakarrik ibiltzearen ordaina
Galdu zintudanetik
Behar bezala ez nabil ez
Aparta ginduztenetik
Non lo egin dezaket esan
Zure altzoan izan ezik
Non gitarra gord, erretzekoa
Hau miseria latza
Galdu zintudanetik
Neure furgoi beltza
Arraia laranjaz
Saldu zintudanetik.
The lyrics of Ruper Ordorika's song Nire Furgoi Beltza are full of emotion and reflection. The first stanza talks about how the land isn't ready yet, the crystals haven't melted and the singer is troubled. They board a bus and hear the news about the weather on the radio, but they don't really care about it. The singer is still thinking about their past and how they lost something.
The second stanza is about the singer's memories coming back to them. They see the black and orange-colored truck and are reminded of things they have lost. They have been waiting at the stations for hours and hours, ever since they lost what they had. They are lost in their own thoughts and emotions and cannot find a way out of it.
The final stanza talks about how the singer is trying to cope with their loss. They have collected some small things that remind them of a better time. They stay home alone at night, surrounded only by the signals of their own sadness. The singer has lost something precious to them, and they are struggling to move on.
Overall, the song is a reflection on loss and grief, and how it affects people in different ways.
