Vendrán a preguntar por tí;
Si tu has sido, dónde estas,
Si yo se adónde fue mi marido.
Y yo levanto la vista,
Miro, callo, estoy pensando:
Pablo andará por la tierra,
Su bandera enarbolando,
De pan y de vino,
Levantando.
Por el camino, a los hombres
Irá enseñando la libertad.
Compañero,
Buscándote vendrán aquí,
Un retrato, una carta,
Algún signo para dar con tu rastro.
Y yo recuerdo tus manos, ya no pienso,
Estoy soñando:
Pablo se fue navegante
Por un mar de sangre joven
Con su rebelde destino,
Sin pan y sin vino
Andar luchando.
Su corazón guerrillero
Olvida en las calles la soledad.
Compañero,
Vendrán a preguntar otra vez,
Si te he visto, si te escribo,
Si yo se adónde fue mi marido.
Y yo los miro a los ojos,
Con ternura voy pensando:
Pablo es un hombre que sabe
Que la vida está cambiando,
Los compañeros lo llevan
Hacia el alba caminando.
Y si le ponen cadenas
Irán otros brazos por libertad.
Pablos hay muchos y andando
Por la tierra van cantando
Con sus banderas de trigo,
De pan y de vino, van luchando.
Pablos hay muchos y andando
Por la tierra van cantando.
The song "Canción de Pablo" by Soledad Bravo is a tribute to an individual named Pablo who is a symbol of freedom and revolution. The lyrics depict his absence and the search for him by others, while also highlighting his journey and the impact he made on people. The first stanza talks about his absence and how people continue to ask about him. The singer, who is likely his spouse, suggests that he may be out in the world, carrying his banner of wheat, bread and wine, spreading the concept of liberty among people he meets. The second stanza describes the singer's reminiscences of Pablo's hands, and his venture into turbulent waters of a young but blood-stained world where he fought without access to basic necessities of life. He left his heart with the guerrilla rebellion and wandered the streets alone. The third and final stanza describes how Pablo is someone who knows that there's a change in the wind and he's being led to new destinations by his peers. They will not be deterred by any obstacle and will continue to fight for the cause of freedom.
