Hate Yourself
TV Girl Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You'd fall in love with anyone
I'd think you'd fall in love with anyone
Who fell in love with you
And they frequently do
So take comfort
Cruel comfort
Before you start to wonder
How you got locked inside your room
And how long will it...
Take?
Before you start to hate yourself
And go straight
To the arms of someone else
And I'll just
Wait
'Till those arms belong to me and I'm not
Saying that you love me
I'm not saying any...
Thing
Tell me
Do you let them down, gently?
Does is only make it harder?
To let the feeling linger
To drag it out a little longer
Does it put your mind at ease?
But you're the one who brought 'em here
You're the one who has to take them when you leave
And how long will it...
Take?
Before you start to hate yourself
And go
Straight to the arms of someone else
And I'll just
Wait
'Till those arms belong to me
And I'm not saying that you love me
I'm not saying any...
Thing
And how long will it...
Take?
Before you start to hate yourself
And go...
Straight to the arms of someone else
And I'll just...
Wait
'Till those arms belong to me
And I'm not
Saying that you love me
I'm not saying any...
The song "Hate Yourself" by TV Girl is about being trapped in a cycle of self-doubt and seeking validation from others. The lyrics suggest that the singer believes the person they're addressing tends to fall in love with anyone who shows them affection, and that they use this as a way to feel comfort in the moment. However, the singer warns that this pattern will ultimately lead to self-hatred, and that the only way to break the cycle is to confront the underlying issues head on.
The lyrics also touch on themes of codependency and emotional manipulation. The singer asks if the person they're addressing lets their partners down gently or if they drag out the relationships to avoid being alone. The song suggests that this behavior is ultimately harmful to everyone involved, and that true healing can only occur through honest self-reflection.
Overall, "Hate Yourself" is a melancholy but insightful look at the complicated and often painful nature of human relationships. It encourages listeners to take a hard look at their own patterns of behavior and strive towards personal growth and self-acceptance.

hope you get better, hating yourself is easy but learning to love yourself is way harder than hating yourself, my point being taking time to be yourself doesn't mean your progressing slower in life just take your time for yourself since I know alot of people don't do that. stay strong KEEP your head up and look at the fun parts of life :D <3
