The last communication with my brother was sending him this song to listen to. I knew he would like it. No response and then two months later-- he committed suicide. I kept hearing this song in public for years, just out of the reach of Shazam or other music identifying apps. I’d tried searching what I thought I heard online, no luck. Today, I was in a brightly lit tea-and-coffee bar in Bellingham, when this song came on. I thought the sounds of traffic and drinks being made would block Shazam’s efforts. Then, the world quieted down for about 10 seconds, more than enough time for the phone to vibrate once, indicating a song identified. The screen went purple, and “Mykonos - Fleet Foxes” popped up. The movie Due Date was where I found this gem. Usually keep up with the music scene but totally missed this one. Although I guess it was a b side thing so many people did. I was about a year out of detoxing from a unhealthy career in pharma and I just randomly found a movie that had the right exact song for that right exact time in my life. Makes me think of my ex so bad. This was 1/1 million songs we called "our" songs. But most definitely top 5 most profound to our relationship. Its crazy how much your mind can interpret lyrics differently based on your current situation.. almost wish this never meant anything between us so I could just enjoy it without reminiscing but at the same time it has even more meaning now making it that much more beautiful.

Years ago I had fallen asleep while watching tv. As I slept Fleet Foxes began performing this song on SNL and it woke me from my sleep. I had never heard this song nor the band, but I sat up in bed and listened to this song in amazement. Few songs have ever had that effect on me. Since that moment I became a FF fan.
