Veronika Fischer began to study 1968 music at the Dresden Music College „Carl Maria von Weber“.
While studying, she performed with a variation of bands, such as the Fred-Herfter-Combo and the Stern-Combo Meissen.
1973 her first album was released with the band Panta Rhei, members of which later founded the band Karat, one of East Germany's most famous musical exports.
At the same year Veronika passed the exam for her studies as soloist for chanson and musical.
A year later she founded her own band: Veronika Fischer & Band.
Her first solo album was released 1975.
Her follow ups sold well in excess of 1.5 million(!), so that Venonika advanced to one of the most successful singers of the former East Germany
At the end of the 1970s she contributed towards two children's albums (Geschichtenlieder 1978 und Der Traumzauberbaum 1980).
1979 she gaves birth to her son, Benjamin.

Freien Himmel sehen,
Den man lang vermißt,
In den lauten Winden
Wieder zu sich finden,
Wer man wirklich ist.
Sonneschein im Haar ...
Wieder alles wagen,
Ohne viel zu fragen,
Alles das, was man will, einfach tun.
Sonnenschein im Haar ...
The lyrics of Veronika Fischer's "Sonnenschein im Haar" depict a woman who has left a man she couldn't bring herself to hate, but also couldn't stand to be around anymore. It was a cold winter day and she wanted to escape the city made of concrete and asphalt and head to the sea. She longs to feel free and alive like the wind and never be the same as she was before. She stands on the dunes and takes in the vast expanse of sky that she has missed and hopes to find herself once again in the loud winds. The woman wants to take risks and not ask too many questions but simply do everything she wants to do.
The song speaks to the universal human desire to break free from the constraints of society and find oneself. The woman in the song yearns for a sense of liberation and renewal. She wants to be able to experience the world around her without any restrictions, to stand on the dunes and relish every moment of freedom she has. The "Sonnenschein im Haar" represents the hope and possibility that comes with change.

From concrete and asphalt,

Auf den Dünen stehen,
Standing on the dunes,
Freien Himmel sehen,

Wieder zu sich finden,
Finding oneself again,
Wer man wirklich ist.
