Glória
Wilki Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oto moja armia
Oto moje prawa
Ogień na sztandarach
Oto moja wiara
Kto ma siłę - jego czas

Glorya! Glorya! Glorya!
Krew na moich rękach
Krew braci na twarzy
Noc zapadła nagle
Słońce wstanie krwawe
Kto ma siłę - jego czas

Glorya! Glorya! Glorya!

Nikt nie zmierzy się z ogniem, który zapłonął nad nami
Nikt nie zmierzy się z ogniem, który zapłonie, płonie, płonie!

Glorya! Glorya! Glorya!

Oto moja armia
Oto moje prawa
Ogień na sztandarach
Oto moja wiara

Krew na moich rękach
Krew braci na twarzy

Noc zapadła nagle
Glorya viva l'arte!!!

Overall Meaning

The song "Gloria" by Wilki is a powerful anthem of strength and resilience. The lyrics express pride in one's army, rights, faith, and the willingness to fight for what is important. The beginning lines "Oto moja armia, Oto moje prawa, Ogień na sztandarach, Oto moja wiara" translate to "Here is my army, Here are my rights, Fire on the banners, Here is my faith," emphasizing a strong sense of loyalty and passion. The repeated lines of "Glorya" further emphasize strength and glory.

The second verse speaks of the cost of this loyalty and passion - blood on one's hands and one's brother's faces. The line "Noc zapadła nagle, Słońce wstanie krwawe" translates to "Night fell suddenly, The sun will rise bloody," depicting a violent and tumultuous situation. However, the repeated lines of "Kto ma siłę - jego czas" ("Who has the strength - his time") emphasizes that despite the challenges, the strong will always persevere. The final line of "Glorya viva l'arte!!!" further emphasizes this, as it translates to "Glory live the art!!!" conveying the importance of art and creativity in expressing one's passion and strength.

Thank you for this!!! Such a gorgeous dress, and I think it would be lovely as a hacked blouse as well.

I looooove your videos and found them so helpful and inspiring in my sewing adventure so far. In particular love these Viki sews so we can sorta sew along with you and also do something completely different to the standard patterns. If you are taking requests I would love to see the Dorothy Viki sews pattern interpreted - hoping to make it up as an Xmas dress.
Wishing you all the luck in the world with your own pattern adventure - I can’t wait to see what you have made !

I am going to have to make this for my sister!! It's exactly the style she likes. Another project to add to my ever-expanding list haha

On the topic of zips, have you heard of Gentleman Jim? He's a tailor from New York who's been practicing for ~50+ years. in 2015 he did a series of videos (with Victoria Baylor, one of his former students and an accomplished dressmaker in her own right) on mastering tailoring/dressmaking which i've found really helpful, as someone who is self-taught! Specifically, in this video he shows his technique for sewing zips and i thought you might be interested. It goes from roughly 18:45-29:30. https://youtu.be/DDEQu05o-Iw

I'm always excited to see your videos, even if i don't end up sewing the particular item. Your knowledge and enthusiasm really help me with my own sewing. Looking forward to the next one!

You nailed it - this is exactly the sort of cute dress I would have made in the '60's - my oldest daughter has a lovely hourglass figure like you, I will suggest that she let me make her one! Perfect directions - thanks for not slogging over all the details ad nauseum, bravo!
