He is probably best known internationally for the song Senza Una Donna, which is a duet with Paul Young and hit number 4 in the latter's native United Kingdom, where Zucchero has generally made little commercial impact, in 1991. He commenced his musical career in 1970 with his first single in 1976, and his first album in 1983. His music, in Italian, Spanish and in English, is largely inspired by gospel, blues and rock music, and alternates between syrupy ballads and more rhythmic boogie-like pieces. He sang several duets, in public or on disc, with Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, Paul Young, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Luciano Pavarotti, Tom Jones, and Johnny Hallyday.
European hit singles include Il Volo (English version: My love), Cosi Celeste, Baila (sexy thing), Diamante (featuring soul singer Randy Crawford), and Wonderful World (with Eric Clapton). Zucchero's 2004 album ZU & Co features duets with Miles Davis, Paul Young, Sheryl Crow, The Cranberries's Dolores O'Riordan, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Maná, Brian May, and Sting. It has sold millions of copies throughout Europe and the world and entered the Billboard 200 charts after its release in the U.S. in the summer of 2005.
In July 2005, Zucchero took part in the Live 8 concerts in both Rome and Paris. In July 2006 Zucchero's new single 'Bacco Perbacco' was released. A new studio album, produced by Don Was will be released in September.

Ho versato per te
Quanti cieli
Ho celato per te
Preso a morsi
I rimorsi per te
Quasi vento
Inventato da te
Aspettando la neve
Quando viene Natale, e ancora
Che ricopre le case
E tutte le brutte cose, ancora, ora
Quanti sogni
Ho sognato per noi
Quanti vuoti
Ho svuotato per noi
Miei fratelli di neve
Ora viene Natale, ancora
Dove andiamo e chi siamo
Dove siete e che fate d'allora, e ora?
No more, baby no more
No more, con me
Amor, baby amor
Amor, per te
Sto aspettando la neve
Come grilli e cicale, ancora
Sto aspettando che neve
Copra le brutte cose, ora
Terra incognita e mia
Vita incognita sia, ancora
Ora, giochiamo a tombola
Vuoi?
The lyrics to Zucchero's song "Terra Incognita" speak of the deep emotions and struggles experienced in a relationship. The first verse talks about the immense effort and sacrifice the singer has made for their loved one. They have poured out their heart through countless verses, hidden their true emotions like hidden skies, and even dealt with inner regrets expressed through the metaphor of biting. The reference to being like the wind invented by the loved one suggests the singer's willingness to adapt and be shaped by the relationship.
The chorus introduces a sense of longing and waiting. The mention of Christmas and snow symbolizes a time of renewal and cleansing. The singer eagerly awaits the snow to cover all the ugly things, hoping for a fresh start. This can be interpreted as a desire for a new beginning in the relationship or a chance to leave behind past mistakes and hurts. The line "Quanti sogni ho sognato per noi, Quanti vuoti ho svuotato per noi" reflects the singer's dedication to their shared dreams and the sacrifices they have made to fill any emptiness in the relationship.
The second verse adds a poetic touch by referring to others as "brothers of snow," emphasizing the universal experience of waiting for Christmas and the yearning for connection. The questions posed, such as "Dove andiamo e chi siamo" (Where are we going and who are we) and "Dove siete e che fate d'allora, e ora?" (Where are you and what are you doing since then, and now?), suggest a sense of detachment and uncertainty. The singer longs for answers and seeks to understand the present state of the relationship.
The repetition of "No more, baby no more" and "Amor, baby amor" in the bridge reflects a plea for an end to pain and a desire for love. The final lines of the song express the ongoing anticipation of the snow, likening it to the sound of crickets and cicadas. Again, the snow is seen as a symbol of transformation and a cover for the ugly things in life. The mention of "Terra incognita" (Unknown land) references the uncharted territory of the relationship, while the wish for an "unknown life" implies a desire for growth and discovery.

Spanish lyrics, beautiful song!
cuantos versos vertí por ti
cuantos cielos te he escondido
fue mordido y llenado para ti
cualquier viento inventado por ti
esperando la nieve cuando es Navidad y todavía
que cubre las casas y todas las cosas malas todavía
cuantos sueños soñé para nosotros
cuantos vacíos he vaciado por nosotros
mis hermanos de nieve todavía es navidad
¿A dónde vamos y quiénes somos, dónde estás y qué has estado haciendo desde entonces y ahora?
