Every Little Bit Hurts
Brenda Holloway Lyrics

Every little bit hurts
Every little bit hurts
Every night I cry
Every night I die
Every night I wonder why
You treat me cold
Yet you won't let me go
Every little hurt does
Every little hurt does
To you I am a toy
And you're the girl
Who has the say
Why I should play
Yeah you hurt me
Desert me I just can't take
The loneliness you give me
I just can't go
Another night this way
Come back to me
Darlin' you'll see
I can give you all the things
You wanted me for
If you will stay with me
Every little bit hurts
Every little bit hurts
Every night I cry
Every night I die
Every night I wonder why
You treat me cold
Yet you won't let me go
Come back to me
Darlin' you'll see
I can give you all the things
That you wanted me for
If you will stay with me
Every little bit hurts
Every little bit hurts
Every little bit hurts

Every little bit hurts
Every little bit hurts

Every night I cry

Every night I sigh

Every night I wonder why

You treat me cold

Yet you won't let me go

Every little hurt counts

Every little hurt counts

You say you're coming home

Yet you never phone

Leave me all alone

My love is strong for you

I'd do wrong for you

I can't take this loneliness you've give me

I can't go on giving my life away

Come back to me

Darling you'll see

I can give you everything that you wanted before

If you will stay with me

Every little bit hurts

Every little bit hurts

To you I'm a toy and you're the boy

Who gets to say when I should play

Yet you hurt me, desert me

Come back to me

Darling you'll see

I can give you everything that you wanted before

If you will stay with me

Every little bit hurts

Every little bit hurts

Every little bit hurts

Every little bit hurts

Every night I cry

Every night I sigh

Every night I wonder why

You treat me cold

Ooh you treat me so cold

Don't you know every little bit hurts me baby

Definitely song from the deepest part of her soul. Every little bit.

Not only was this young lady talented but she also set a good example for other teenage girls still in school. I saw a clip of an interview in which the TV host asked her about her high school studies and she said that she was going to stick with them until she graduated. I think she was like 16 or 17 years old when she released this song.

ConsumerWarrior she was so beautiful, she wrote her own songs and for whatever reason never really broke out as a Motown artist. I loved her and her style.

Brenda was only 17 yrs. "Young" when this song was released in April 1964, she would turn 18 three months later. What a voice, what a talent, What grace & beauty. One "Classy" Lady.

Saw many tears shedded in the sixties when this was played on the jukebox.

I feel ya... Young men were being drafted to fight in the Nam and riots breaking out in the inner cities. '64 Harlem, '65 Watts and other cities.

I loved this song And still do.

Even though this is a song of strong melancholy emotion, it actually makes you feel good whenever you hear it. This sound is something that's all but lost in today's generation.
