Originally calling themselves the A Cappella Circle when they were at the University of Waseda, they changed their name to the Gospellers in 1991 after graduating. They spent the next ten years working towards national recognition, releasing 24 singles and 9 albums during that time. They became the first complete a cappella group to be in the top 3 of the Oricon chart ranking in Japan with their song, "HITORI".
In early 2006, the group made a side-project release, Gosperats, featuring the members in blackface and singing with a jazzier accompaniment Rats & Star's member Masayuki Suzuki, Nobuyoshi Kuwano and Yoshio Sato. Many of the western Gospeller fans were upset about the outrage it caused on some discussion forums, many non-fans felt offended by the blackface the group members had chosen to take on. Fortunately, this project was announced as a side-project and released only one album under its name.
The members of Gospellers are now producers for several Japanese artists, including Tatsuya Ishii and Masayuki Suzuki. (This text has been cited from Wikipedia)

I can't live (I can't live), I can't sleep (I can't sleep)
I can't breath without you (I can't breath without you) woo
I need you (I need you)
I need to be close to you to have you all
I just wanna be where you are (wanna be where you are)
Let me love you
The opening lines of "Towani" sung by ゴスペラーズ ask if the girl in question is present, questioning whether she is actually there or just a figment of his imagination. He then goes on to describe the state he is in when he is not near her; unable to live, sleep or breathe properly. He emphasizes his need for her, wanting to be close to her and to love her. In the following verses, he reminisces about a past experience where they made promises to never be apart again, and how the warmth of her embrace still lingers. The chorus emphasizes the desire to be by her side, to become the wind that envelops her and to reach her no matter how far away she may be. The final verse speaks of holding onto their love and never letting go.
The lyrics of "Towani" offer a touching portrayal of longing for someone and the intensity of affection that one can feel for another person. The song expresses the idea that even when distance and time separate people, their love can still reach across the miles and bridge the gap between them. The use of the wind as a metaphor adds a poetic dimension to the lyrics, highlighting the power and freedom that love can bring.
