After a huge success at the most famous French Festival in Bourges in 2004, Amélie-les-crayons then won the 2 Prizes of Montauban French Chanson Festival. In july, Quebec offered her the renowned Felix Leclerc Prize for her work and 6 months later, it was Belgium who congratulated Amélie with the Charleroi Festival Great Prize. The album "et pourquoi les crayons ?" released in June sold about 30 000 copies in a year, which is rather exceptional for a French independant band.
Sweet and serene in real life, Amélie metamorphoses on stage: the young girl becomes an astonishing show girl! And the boys show a great talent for playing the piano, tuba, clarinet (Heiko), accordion (Michel) or double bass (Laurent).

Assieds-toi
Dis-moi c'qui t'chagrine
Prends une chaise
Tiens quand t'as frappé
J'allais m'faire un thé
Jasmin
T'as vu c'qu'il pleut dehors
T'y as échappé
C'est vrai ici c'est l'confort
T'as bien fait d'passer
Ton thé va être trop fort
Si tu le laisses infuser
T'auras ton jasmin
Et tu s'ras pas mouillé
T'as l'air d'avoir froid
J'te prête un pull
Ici c'est comme ça
Moi j'ai l'habitude
J'te mets un, deux ou trois
Sucres dans ton thé ?
Du miel d'acacia
Ca va t'réchauffer
Dis moi, c'qui t'amène,
C'est pas le goût d'mon thé
Tiens j'ai une idée :
On va la passer ensemble
Cette soirée
(Merci à mauD pour cettes paroles)
The lyrics of Amélie-les-crayons's "Jasmin Tea" tell the story of a warm and welcoming encounter between two friends. The singer invites their friend into their kitchen, offering them a seat and a jasmin tea to soothe their worries. The singer admires the first flowers from their garden, which emit a sweet scent of jasmin. They picked them that morning and took a moment of happiness, which they now want to share with their friend. Looking out the window, the singer points out the rain and praises the comfort of their home. They add sugar, honey, and even lend their sweater to ensure their friend is comfortable. The singer then invites their friend to share the evening with them, suggesting they make the most of their time together.
The song's lyrics embody a sense of warmth, kindness, and goodwill towards others. The singer creates a safe, welcoming space for their friend, making sure they are comfortable and cared for. The jasmin tea is a symbol of tranquility, and the flowers of the singer's garden represent the beauty of life's simple moments. The song encourages us to share our kindness and to cherish the time we spend with those we care about.
