BarlowGirl's Philosophy
The band has gained a following with their "Anti-Conformity" message of "Don't be conformed, be Transformed" from Romans 12:1-2. Besides believing in abstinence and modesty, the band has also taken a stand on not dating, but their main message remains that people should look to God for love and security, and he will bring everything else into our lives. Very simply, trust God. They encourage people to trust the unseen. Just because you can't see God doesn't mean He isn't there!
Self Titled Debut Album
BarlowGirl instantly hit the spotlight in 2004 with their acclaimed self-titled debut album, coupled with the success of its first single, Never Alone. The longest running No. 1 song in 2004 on R&R’s CHR and CRW Rock charts, Never Alone was named "Song of the Year" on each of these charts. The CD has sold over 250,000 units (as of April 2005) and featured the singles Never Alone and Mirror which both garnered much airplay on Christian radio stations. These number one songs earned the trio four 2005 GMA (Gospel Music Association) awards (formerly the Dove Award) award nominations, including the prestigious Best New Artist award, Best Rock Song and Rock Album. The trio was the best selling new Christian artist of 2004. BarlowGirl received a 2006 GMA award nomination for Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year for Mirror.

One more time
Pick yourself up
Why even cry
Broken pieces in your hands
Wonder how you'll make it whole
[Chorus]
You pray
This can't be the way
You cry
You say
Something's gotta change
And mend this porcelain heart of mine
Of mine
Someone said
A broken heart would sting at first then make you stronger
You wonder why this pain remains
Were hearts made whole just to break
[Chorus]
Creator only you take brokenness
And create it into beauty once again
You know
You pray
This can't be the way
You cry
You say
Something's gotta change
You know
You pray
This can't be the way
You cry
You say
Something's gotta change
And mend this porcelain heart
Please mend this porcelain heart
Of mine, of mine
Creator mend this heart
The lyrics to BarlowGirl's song "Porcelain Heart Remix" focuses on the theme of heartbreak and the desire to heal from it. The chorus shows the singer's longing for a change to occur and for the pain to go away. The lines "something's gotta change, and mend this porcelain heart of mine" demonstrate the singer's belief that there must be a solution to healing their broken heart.
The song also mentions how someone had previously told the singer that a broken heart would make them stronger. However, the singer still experiences pain and wonders if hearts are meant to be broken only to be mended again. The idea that brokenness can be transformed into something beautiful provides hope and reassurance to the singer that their heart can be mended.
Overall, "Porcelain Heart Remix" by BarlowGirl expresses the universal struggle of coping with heartbreak and the desire for healing. It reminds listeners that they are not alone and that even though heartbreak can be painful, there is always hope for healing.

Pick yourself up
Instead of simply telling the listener to 'get over it', the next line gives them encouragement to keep pushing forward regardless of the pain they are experiencing.
Why even cry
This line acknowledges that it is natural to feel sadness and grief, but perhaps there is no point in dwelling in it, as it won't solve anything.
Broken pieces in your hands
The image of holding pieces of a shattered heart is evocative and illustrates the tangible nature of the pain that the singer is addressing.
Wonder how you'll make it whole

This can't be the way
The first line of the chorus is mirrored in the second part, emphasizing that something must change.

Referring back to the first line and the image of shattered pieces being held in the hands, this lyric represents a plea for guidance and healing.
Someone said
The third verse is a departure from the second person perspective used in the rest of the song, instead addressing the idea of what 'someone' has said about heartbreak.
A broken heart would sting at first then make you stronger
This lyric represents a common refrain related to heartbreak - that it is a temporary pain that will ultimately give way to something stronger and more resilient.
You wonder why this pain remains
While acknowledging that heartbreak can make someone stronger, this line highlights the persistent and distressing nature of the pain.
