Bill Muir was the frontman of xtillidiex ("Till I Die"), a straight edge hardcore punk band that toured Japan from 1998 to 2002 in an attempt at popularizing the straight edge subculture. The last demo the band recorded, after much in-fighting and a later break-up, reached Square Enix by chance and Muir was hired to perform the heavy metal opening theme song of Final Fantasy X.
