However the genre defining artists of Hip-Hop who elevate and dominate are the ones who go past just rhyming like a gangster, a battle emcee, or a backpacker. They bring more to their music, and this is where Brawdcast enters.
An artist who draws inspiration from great emcees like Common and Big L, and you can hear it in his cleverly crafted punchlines. However, he aint like the majority of battle emcees, who cant drop a single track. In fact, Brawdcast has continued to evolve, and there's no question he brings more to the table than just dope rhymes. He brings thought provoking, original concepts to each track that would make Maya Angelou bop her head.
Brawdcasts concepts on tracks range from his relationship to God to straight rocking the microphone, all birthed from his unique upbringing. Brawdcast is from the burbs, and I know what you are thinking; because he is from the suburbs he wont have any appealing subject matter to drop. I guess its a stigma you have to deal drugs to catch an ear or two, but Brawdcasts unique experiences give him subject matter and a well-rounded appeal. His honesty and genuine spirit is clearly visible, he isn't afraid to soul search, and self reflect on a track for all to hear.
A handful of years ago, Brawdcast was an on-campus Christian Missionary, and at one point he felt led to serve in Alaska, so he moved to Anchorage. However, in the past couple years, Brawdcast has gone through some changes and has been battling some vices, like most. But he refuses to deny his spiritual roots and hope of becoming a better human being with time. In humility, he Remains optimistic that he will not veer too far off course has kept him with-in striking distance of a complete full circle, with him ending up back where he started - close to God. Everyone is a mixture of good and bad, its how tilted your balance is towards each extremity that defines who we are.
Regardless, Brawdcast is going to speak the truth, and that directly ties to the title of his debut, The Suburban Spokesman. His solo has been a long time coming, but to fully appreciate this release we have to look at his rhyming past. Brawdcast started rhyming in 1997 with the crew Infinite Skills. He was the youngest in the crew, and over the next several years writing, ciphers, and battles consumed his life. If anyone wanted to test Infinite Skills lyrically, they would have to come through him first. After his stint with the crew, he has ventured out solo. Since then he has recorded commercials for Russell Simmons (thats right, the biggest man in the industry) energy drink called Defcon 3. He has collaborated with respected artists like Pigeon John and Trek Life. Kutmasta Kurt and Brawdcast were actually in talks concerning a project, but investor issues kept the project at bay. Instead of letting the disappointment hold him back, Brawdcast found himself on an emerging independent label, O.C. Records. He is no rookie to the game; he has put in his work.
The Suburban Spokesman was the release that put his name on the map, a name and persona shaped by his history. Brawdcast got the flow, determination, and lyrics to take the game by storm. He also has a keen ear for production which you will notice when you hear his tracks. He is flat out the total package, smooth concepts mixed with raw lyrics that would make Big L smile. Its hard to hype an artist with my words, but as soon as you hear Brawdcasts debut solo The Suburban Spokesman youll definitely believe the hype.
Since the release of The Suburban Spokesman, Brawdcast has received various accolades due to the quality of his debut album. He won an award for "Best Hip-Hop" at the Orange County Music Awards in 2006, 2007, and 2008, which celebrates the best music across all genres in Orange County.
Brawdcast recently also just released his first 12", with the lead single as "This is It", which is a surefire banger featuring Brawdcast's ferocious flow and witty punchlines over heart-pounding production. The single has gotten massive amounts of spins on College radio shows, hitting ..24 on the National College Radio Hip-Hop charts and staying on the charts for a couple of months. This is extremely impressive because Brawdcast's single features no one but himself, proving his music is being embraced wholeheartedly by College radio on his merits alone. Mainstream radio is also bumping Brawdcast, as "This Is It" has been played at Los Angeles's Power 106FM. Brawdcast's music has also been played on the two biggest Satellite Radio stations, XM and Sirius (Channel 40 "Hip Hop Nation").
Just like how radio stations help fans hear new music through the airwaves, Myspace is the premier internet site for people to hear new music. As a testament to Brawdcast's latest album and the immense support his fans give him, Brawdcast was Myspace's Artist of the Week from March 28th to April 4th along with Ugly Duckling and T.I. The first week of October his debut album was a feature on iTUNES, in the new releases section.
The Suburban Spokesman has garnered respect and established Brawdcast as a skillful artist among the heavy weights in the indy hip hop scene since his debut hit stores, distributed by KOCH. Brawdcast released an Exclusive Japan album on 10/10/07. Prior to his LP release, a 12" EP featuring LMNO (of the Visionaries) was dropped, and climbed up the indy hip hop singles charts, resting at 5. And so came Brawdcast's Japanese release "Endure", and overall- it was highly praised by both fans and critics alike. 2009/NOW: Brawdcast just signed a U.K./IRELAND one album deal with PSYCHONAVIGATION RECORDS. There will be a U.S. VERSION of the album out in April. The U.S. will contain an extra 4 or 5 songs... There will be a release party at Kelly's (the local pub in p-town), 10 bucks gets u a copy of the album. It will be on a thursday night, on a date T.B.A. later. The album will play 3 or 4 times throughout the celebration....

I swear the beat contains a sample from some song. It sounds pretty similar to 2nd II None's The Life of a Player. Regardless, this is a doooope song. Dope flow and dope beat. As a mattter of fact, if someone could shoot me the instrumental, I'd appreciate it.
