Hawker
Distemper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Only yesterday you left the schooling canteen,
And you get in fashionable restaurant,
All your life you tried to learn to use the condom,
To mammy said to you.
Happy fucking life had fallen on your sick head,
Nether work and no learning you could touch,
Crazy dollars jump in to your fuchking pocket,
Spit on all your talents.

It will be better to make some small cribs,
It will be better to learn theorems,
Instead of staying on foolish bazaar,
Instead of a big lunk.
It will be better to make some small cribs,
It will be better to learn theorems,
Instead of sail quick – frozen meat,
Instead of swear on me.

Only what have done, will never be returned,
Our destiny can be for us so cruel,
On your course of life you meet with different people,
Clear and some dirty.
Time passed and only one you have in pocket,
In the light of dream, of pills and pain,
In your stall on fucking sale market place,
Recollect your school days.

It will be better to make some small cribs,
It will be better to learn theorems,
Instead of staying on foolish bazaar,
Instead of a big lunk.
It will be better to make some small cribs,
It will be better to learn theorems,

Instead of sail quick – frozen meat,
Instead of swear on me.

Overall Meaning

The song "Hawker" by Distemper is a commentary on the fleeting nature of success and the importance of education. The lyrics paint a picture of a young person who has just left school and is quickly lured into the world of fast money and materialism. They are warned by their mother about the dangers of this lifestyle, but they ignore her advice and enjoy the initial rush of success.

However, as time passes, the reality of their situation becomes apparent. They are stuck in a dead-end job, selling their wares on a market stall and reminiscing about their lost youth. The lyrics emphasize the importance of using education to create a better future, rather than being seduced by the promise of quick riches.

Overall, the song serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of chasing after material possessions without considering the consequences. It suggests that investing in education and personal development is a better path to long-term fulfillment and success.

the result is amazing, you are able to astonish me again and again! fantastic weathering and winter camo, love it!!

Well, all model projects tend to be like that. If we put a lot of work into them, as we have them on display, we begin to think less about the struggles and about what didn't go right and begin to appreciate the stuff that went right a bit more. Seriously, you did a first class job with that and its not something a lot of other modelers would have attempted. It really captures that Soviet winter "white wash" and weatherbeaten look very well.

That is simply excellent work, I'd have never even conteplated acrlyic over enamel, very well done indeed.

There were a few "Oh s**t!" moments and I considered doing a full respray, but a couple of blobs of the right colour in the right places did the trick to a degree. Given what I did with the Airfix Zero i.e. ripped it apart and re-built it, I've come to realise that there is always a finished model in there somewhere! :)

Just a fantastic build I have to say! Can't wait for the 109!

Another outstanding build. You almost seem to forget the scratch built flaps by looking at the distemper so much. Like the idea of swapping from enamel to acrylic.

Heck, I just go to town on 'em! I remember seeing a WWII documentary that was in colour and there were F4 Corsairs coming off the production line and already they looked knackered! So imagine what front line aircraft would have looked like after a couple of hundred operational sorties...? :)

truly awesome. the weathering, the colour sheme, that's splendid! I got a request for you: I am very curious how you set up those realistic antenna cables. Can you show us a little insight into that? I am strugling with that pretty hard. Thanks! Keep up the good work! Hows the new studio :)?

MakingModelsAgain

Thank you! :) For the antennas, I use stretched sprue - take a length of spure, rotate it above a candle flame until soft, then pull apart slowly and steadily and it will draw it into a long, thin plastic thread. Not all maufaturers plastics work, but most do. Then simply cut to length and, leaving it slightly limp, glue to the rudder and mast, preferably with super glue. Then, heat your tweezers in the flame and CAREFULLY hold either side of the sprue and it will snap tight! :) Good luck! :)

Danke schön! It has to be said, for some reason, I had it pictured differently in my head when I started out to the extent that I wasn't happy with the result. But when you really think about and has been pointed out to me, with this sort of thing there IS NO set standard for it to adhere to. Basically, anything goes as these schemes would pprobably look different from week to week! The big 109 is almost done as well, so watch out for that soon! It's only been 14 months... ;)
